Suffering. To everyone, to hear that word, to here a case of someone with it, you always think of suffering as a terrible thing. Suffering may be bad for you mentally and physically, but that's if you choose to see it that way. If you choose to see suffering as something terrible, you will resent it, and if it ever happens to you, you will resent it more and grow hateful because of suffering. But you can take suffering as something else. You can take it as a change, something inevitable that you can accept or resent. Suffering shapes people who accept it into better people. It makes them appreciate things more. If you go hungry for a week, and then finally get a meal, you will be grateful and thankful for something you took for granted otherwise. If you grow up hated and abused, but accept your suffering, you can see things in a whole new light. You can appreciate something you didn't think to before, someone offering you a tissue, some saying "bless you" after you sneeze, someone picking something up that you dropped for you, someone holding the door open in the grocery store. If you grew up loved, you would just say "thank you", and then walk away and forget it. If you grow up suffering, you don't put it out of your mind and you think about how nice that person is for doing something another person could of easily overlooked. Suffering shapes you in a way that you can appreciate the sun on your face, the air you breathe, the blueness of the sky and the greenness of the grass. Suffering lets you embrace life and live it to the fullest, if you are willing to let it.
