I'm sorry for the way i have treated you,
I'm sorry for the pain i have caused.
If this pain you could only see,
You would know why i did not pause....

I pulled away in anger,
not seeing the pain that it caused.
But now i feel insanely bitter....

I am sorry for the pain i have caused you,
if only you could see.
The pain that i feel,
each time we meet....

You are the true one, i feel,
the one that stories are made about.
But how is it that life would deal,
such a hand to make one cry about....

I have two roads now ahead of me,
both have pain along the way.
But to hurt the new people i meet,
to forget, the past, i pray....

On one i have true happiness,
the other false hope.
I see this now in the dimness,
down in my soul....

Both roads require courage,
and the fortitude to see my choice on through.
But to cause the pain on another,
I do not want to go through....

But with you i am truly happy,
in this i see hope.
This enough gives me the courage,
and the joy that i find in hope....
