Doodles
Honey, I'm HO-OME!
Heya, folks. That's right, Geri is back a day early! Why? Because I got the date wrong sweatdrop We got in late last night.

So... what did Geri do on her trip? Well... if you'll look below you might notice that I have posted excerpts from my journal on the island. There isn't any personal stuff in it, mostly because I don't know anyone there sweatdrop
Note: I may have to put this up in fits and starts, so if it seems incomplete, just give it a couple hours and check back.

Thursday, August 17th, 11:51 p.m.
We got here around 9:00 p.m., becayse we ended up leaving several hours later than we planned. The satellite isn't activated yet, and the house is really hot because we're still just warming up the A.C. (No pun intended) We watched a cool thing about sharks, and then... uh, I think it was "Raymond".... or was it "Everybody Loves Seinfeld"? Then I watched "That 70's Show" for maybe five minutes before saying, "Well, this is dumb."
I'm gonna go to sleep now, if that's cool with you.
Ciao,
Geri

DAY 1
Friday, August 18th, 11:05 p.m.

It was really hot today. Like, really hot. THe satellite is no longer functional, says Grandpa, but we somehow snagged some basic cable for the time being (That is, until Grandpa can come down and put in a new "smartcard" thingy), so I'm okay.
I rode my bike out to the marsh this morning. The grass is much longer than I remembered. I got some good sketching in, but it was way hot on the ride back.
Then mom and I rode our bikes down to the pool (Patrick and Dad took the golf cart... cowards!) and we were there for awhile... that was fun. But on the way back... I had an accident. I know, right? Quit riding the bike, Geri. ((For those of you who don't remember, last time I went to Fripp, I had a bike accident that involved my bike flipping over a curb, and me with it, and a large scrape on my knee, and Bactine. *shudders*)) I went off the road into the grass, and then I tried to get back on, but instead I fell over. Blood everywhere, man, I lost consciousness after-- nah, I'm kidding. (Scared the crap out of you, didn't I?) I was just shaken up pretty badly, and I scraped up my hand and my elbow and my knee. Ma and I walked our bikes to the beach, where we had planned to meet Patrick and Dad. We picked up shells for awhile until they came and found us.
I was in a lot of pain by now (Fresh wounds and seawater... well, they do mix, and they help, but it hurts a lot.) so we shoved the bikes into the car and drove home.
We had shrimp for dinner (I only ate a few- I never really loved shrimp, so I also had a hot dog) along with a salad.
Uh... all of a sudded I just got really tired. I'm going to bed now.
Ciao,
Geri

DAY 2
Saturday, August 19th, 9:54 a.m.

Today is looking like it's gonna be a bit gray, so I'm going to write some now.
There's been something that's been bugging me since we got to the lowcountry. There is something distinctly creepy about this place. (Wow, that sounded ominous. eek ) Not specifically this place, but just the Deep South in general. You know, the whole Spanish-moss-deserted-platation-manor thing. Dead Confederate soldiers walking around condemned hospitals. Southern belles walking through old gardens overgrown with vines and weeds. Houses that have graveyards in their back yards. And then, when you get down to the Gulf, there's that whole voodoo deal to make[removed]emoticon(' sweatdrop ') it even spookier. It's the kind of thing than makes us Northerners want to sleep with the lights on.
But why is that? Here's my theory: the same reason we fear all ghosts (besides the obvious "they're dead" thing). We're afraid our past will come back to bite us in the butt. THere is always a lurking fear that something we've done wrong will reflect on us later on. (Not that I think the war was wrong, mind, but looking at it from a dead guy's point of view it does seem awfully harsh.) We also are unnerved by places that seem to dwell in the past. (Hey, don't take my word for it. Read the Bartimaeus Trilogy.) We feel a desperate need to move forward rather than face our mistakes directly. Humans are very insecure.
Damn. Now I'm depressed and I don't know how to wrap it up. I guess I got carried away sweatdrop . Oh well. I think I'll go eat some cookies.
Ciao,
Geri

Saturday, August 19th, 11:07 p.m.
Okay, today was pretty uneventful/sucky, so lets just skip to Naruto, shall we?
The recap from last week had me shouting at the tv again ("Neji, you jerk! You Chauvanist! I dislike you immensely!" wink And, let's be honest, can you really blame me? But who gives a crap about that? It's the new episode we're really worried about.
Half a minute into the episode, Lee is already freaking me out. 1) His eyes are weird. 2) His voice so doesn't fit him 3) He pro-noun-ces his words ve-ry odd-ly! (Is he supposed to do that?)
And then, of course, there's Gaara, reigning champ, super overlord of creepy. This could be an exciting match. (And by "exciting," I mean "scarier than your mortal mind can begin to comprehend." wink
Match starts. Bla bla bla... Sand moves around. Ooh, ah. Gaara's brother (Kankuro?) blabs about sand "protecting Gaara of it's own will." W...T...H. I'm gonna refer this to Katra, maybe she can make sense of this.
Anyway... Lee is doing his tai-jutsu thang... that-guy-whose-name-I-don't-know gives some sort of signal ( xp ), Lee drops weights, collective gasps. Lee is fast! Whoosh! Whoosh! All of a sudden, Mr. Reigning Champ Super Overlord of Creepy ain't looking so hot. Booyah! ("Is that enough blood for ya? Huh? Huh?" wink
But- what's this? Gaara is doing some weird sand-armor thing. W...T...H. 'Nother note for Katra.
But- what's this? Lee is unraveling his...uh... I dunno what they are. He's doing a... Lotus? Is that what they called it?
Up!- goes Gaara- up- up- UP! And then- DOWN!!! Oh, snap!
Yay Lee! Ya--
What's happened to G-man?

So, what do I think? It was a decoy. Duh. Knew it all along. Lee might be toast. But they say he's got a forbidden jutsu hidden up his...uh... I dunno what they are.
WHO KNOWS?

Woah, it sounds like I'm on a sugar rush or something.
Bedtime!
Ciao,
Geri.

DAY 3
Sunday, August 20th, 1:41 p.m.

Hey, wait! I thought Lee couldn't do ninjutsu! What the frack?

Sunday, August 20th, 10:56 p.m.
Wow, it's only the third day and already I'm getting bored. But I also realized I've only got two full days left. Usually one notices when time is flying.
Cyrus didn't eat today, and we don't know why. We're going to see if he eats tomorrow morning- if not, we take him to the vet.
We went to the pool again- with the car, no more of that bicycle crap- which wasn't much fun, because I ended up swimming around by myself and doing things like trying to flip over underwater without using my arms. By the time Patrick and Dad finally got in the water (Mom didn't come), I was rather tired. I went and took a little nap under my towel.
On the way home, we drove down Wahoo Drive (as in "You must be some kind of Wahoo to deliberately go down this Drive." wink which has the largest collection of potholes in the known universe. (Holy crap... I'm up at 11:15 p.m.... talking... about potholes)
Then Mom, Dad and Patrick went to the beach, and I stayed home and slept.
Speaking of sleeping... I gotta go. If there's anything I've forgotten, I'll write it down tomorrow.
Ciao,
Geri.

HOW CAN YOU NOT LIKE SHRIMP!!! gonk
Well, I suppose they're really crappy if they're not like deep fried in burning oil and covered with breadcrumbs or something. I usually go for the seafood immediately (especially if I'm in a buffet or something) because seafood is expensive! (I'm so shallow lol )

I think you're overanalyzing the fear of ghosts thing. Personally, I know that I don't like ghosts because they're dead. Dead people scare me. It's because they're dead. Dead is a veeery scary thing.

That and I don't want to be dead. Dead is bad.

I'm not gonna comment on anything else because I'm lazy like that (and I don't know that much about Naruto).
