Authors note: Okay everyone, Im going to take a break from working on the "May love be expressed" trilogy. Right at the moment, I have a new project in mind. 3nodding Its a little fic I came up with when I was looking for Naruto yaoi fics. So far, I found a few good ones, but, enough jabbering. Lets get on with the fic I want to type, or tell. *shrugs* you take your pick wink
Title: Our Winter Sleep-over Author: Cherryten_ten Rate: G Disclaimer: I have no right to take the copyright of Naruto Summary: Its christmas Eve. How awesome! Everyone loves christmas, right? Kakashi and Iruka are at a nice hotel, trying to celebrate a little christmas of their own while Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, Kiba, Hinata, Shino, and all the others are out singing by a big tree in the middle of town. On Christmas day, Kakashi finds a pleaseant gift underneath the artificial tree the hotel provided.
There was nothing about the scenery before them as they stood out in the town, watching the snow fall everywhere around them. Its cold.Iruka pulled his scarf tighter about him as Kakashi slung an arm around him.
"Are you that cold?" The Jounin whispered under his navy blue mask. "A little. Its so pretty out here." Iruka snuggled closer to Kakashi and leaned his head on the taller mans shoulder. Underneath the mask covering most of his face, was his smile.
"As much as I like the scenery here, we should really think about heading to town for a quick carol with the rest before we head back to the hotel, ne?"
A moments pause. Then Iruka finally nodded. "Yeah."
In town~
When they finally reached the center of town, a whole lot of noise was all over the place. Children, not yet ninjas, were running around, so excited to open presents on Christmas day. And some teenage kids were picking up handfuls of snow and hurling them at one another. Kakashi and Iruka couldn`t help but laugh.
"Oh, yes. You remember when we used to do that, ne, Iruka?" Iruka had to stop and think for a moment about the past, which he really tried not to.
-Flashback-
"Ahaha!!What a doofus!! You can`t make a decent snowball!! Go home before your mom sees you lying in the snow from the cold!" A group of kids were jeering at a little child huddled in the snow. He was very frusterated at why he couldn`t make a decent snowball. It made his ears burn with heated anger when the older boys teased him. Though he did try to keep his anger under control. Finally when he thoght he got the knack of it, a perfect snowball hit him in the face.
*piff!*
"Ouch!" The brown-haired child flew backwards into the snow. He lay there for a while. The kids all laughed at him and wakled away. As he lay there in the snow, something wet slid down his cheek and landed into the snow beneath him.
It was tears.
He was really crying. After getting hit in the face with a snowball, some one, not anyone wouldn`t blame him, right? But that wasn`t the reason he layed there and cried till the late hours of night. The boy who shouted at him to go home to his parents, really shattered him.
He had no parents.
Iruka uminos parents died when the Vicious creature, known as the Nine-tailed Deamon Fox ran amok in Konoha a couple of years ago. Since then, hes been struggling to live by himself. It hurt every waking moment of his life expecting a mom or dad to come in and give him a warm awakening, but then remembering the parents he knew and still loved were dead. By the time his memory would come of service, he would start crying.
When it was in the pitch of night, poor little Iruka layed there in the snow, shivering and quietly sobbing. Maybe dying here, now in the snow would ease his pain and misery. Joining his parents would make him so happy. Just wish to be anywhere but here where constant taunts were thrown at him if he ever were to be doing something the incorrect way.
He was just closing his eyes and letting his life slip away into the snow when he felt someone was standing right on front of him and staring. He looked up and saw a kid, apparently around his age with a mask covering most his face, carrying a sack. Iruka stared up at the boy for a while. The boy cocked his head and knelt down, examining him a little closer.
"You`ll die if you stay out here any longer. Come with me. I`ll take you to my place and have you rest up, `kay?" The boys vioce was calm. And so kind. He was the first and only boy to really speak so kindly to him, besides his teachers. He couldn`t help but continue to stare at the boy knealing over him. The boys eye, the only visible eye softened. He held out his hand.
Iruka looked down at the hand. He was being told to take it. Dare he?
"Come." The unknown boy said again. After a moments consideration, he lifted a own hand, which was white from the snow, and took hold of the other boys warmer one. The boy flinched a little. "You`ve been out here for far too long."
A while later, the boy with the mask was slinging an arm around Irukas shoulders and they both walked amongst the snow towards the boys house. His warmth felt so good. He looked up at the boy. His face was so calm and staring straight ahead. After feeling the stare from Iruka, the unknown boy glanced down at him.
"What?"
Iruka quickly looked back down at the snow and shook his head.
Once they arrived at the boys house, the boy let go of Iruka and unlocked the door with caution. Once it was, he pulled Iruka behind him.
'What the heck is this boy doing?' He wondered.
"Stay here." The boy said, his voice suddenly stern, and with that, he kicked down the door to his house and chrged in. Iruka stood there in the cold outside the front this boys house in bewilderment. This boy he barely knows kicked down his own door! What kind of thing does he come home to?
All of a sudden, the sound of sharp objects were coming from inside. He stared into the darkness of the open front doorway. Did the boy sense intruders? And was being attacked. He panicked. What was he to do? After making a quick decision, he was about to take a step into the house when the boy on the inside shouted:
"DON`T COME IN HERE! WAIT TILL I SAY ITS SAFE!!" Iruka stopped, clasping his hands together at his chest. Its not safe. Yet the boy was still inside braving danger itself.
After a few minutes, the sound of the sharp objects flying around the room died down. Was it over? Iruka wanted so much to run back to where he was before.
"Okay, its safe to come in." The boy appeared in the doorway, smiling. Iruka stared with eyes wide open. They boy had numerous cuts and slashes in his clothes. "Its okay, come in, come in." The boy ushered Iruka in. Once in, the boy lit some candles and gestured for him to sit down on the pillow mats on the floor. He slowly sat down and the boy left the room and headed to the kitchen.
Iruka curiously peered around the room and gaped. So thats what was going on! He saw many swords and ninja weapons boring into the walls all around him. Many objects were broken and laying all over the floor. This boy has traps set all over the house! They boy came back with a couple of mugs, and steam lifting from the rims. He sat down in front of Iruka and offered him one of the mugs. He gladly took one and took a few big sips. It was so warm!
Before he forgot, he asked: "What happened in here?" He gestured to the knife mess all over the mainroom. The boy chuckled.
"I just like setting traps in the house here whenever I leave the house here. Ever since my parents died, Ive been training myself particularly hard to become a ninja."
His parents died too? "....Wh...Y-your parents are dead, too?" Iruka was reminded of his parents being dead too. Tears started welling up in his eyes. He quickly turned around and wiped his eyes. He was crying in front of another boy!
The boy cocked his head. "What`s wrong? It`s not that bad. I don`t mind having no pa-" The boy realized what was wrong. "H-hey. What`s with you?" Iruka shook his head. "My parents are dead..." The boy stared down at Iruka and then his gaze softened, then he stroked the top of his head. "aww, Im sorry. Would it make you feel better if I did something for you?" Iruka sniffled and thoght about it.
"It`d be nice if you could teach me to make a snowball."
-End Flashback-
When Iruka came back, Kakashi was watching him. "You really do remember dont you?" Iruka nodded. "Sorry for taking so long to review that memory...You know, you never told me what your name was until after you taught me about snowballmaking." Kakashi nodded. "And since then, youve always called me by my name. Well, Iruka sensei, shall we join the quoir around the tree?" Iruka looked at the tree ahead of them and saw many towns people start taking their place around the tree. He nodded and they walked closer and took their place.
The lights on the tree twinkled and a music jukebox started playing music.
Everyone joined in.
"O-Christmas tree, O-christmas tree, how lovely are your branches..."
~Later~
After the carol, a little bit of christmas Sake, Kakashi and Iruka tried a little bit to walk as normal to their Hotel room. The clerk at the front looked at them a little funny but them smiled. "Must be the Christmas sake...Alot of adults must be having them now..." He said to himself.
In their room, they hung up their coats and scarves and walked over to the seats and flopped down.
"Some party that was...Though I think we had a little too much sake...*Hiku*" Iruka hiccuped. Kakashi, slightly drunk himself, nodded as maturely as he could, and hoisted his fellow comerade and went into their bedroom and layed Iruka down on one of the beds. "Think you can dress yourself for bed yourself or do I have to do it myself?" Kakashi asked. Iruka hicupped and tried nodding, a dizzy look came across his face. But he smiled sweetly to hide it. Kakashi went over to his bag and unzipped it, pulling out a T-shirt and sweatpants. He dressed and waited for the other man to do the same. Clumcily he was getting there.
"Are you sure you dont need my help?" Iruka quickly tried to get up straight. Okay, too much sake at the party, but hey, at least Naruto, Sasuke and Sakura didnt get into it. Lee, Guys little apprentice got some of it, again and got into trouble. Iruka couldnt help but chuckle at that. Suddenly dizzy and falling down with the sound of carols and the floor whirling around in his head, Kakashi quickly dived to catch him. Seems hes the most sober one now. He helped Iruka into some simple clothes and pulled him into his own bed. For part of the night they layed there as the firworks were still booming for Christmas Eve. Townspeople still shouting hurray for the occasion. Both smiled. The following day is going to be a blast. Trying not to fall asleep they turned over and smiled goodnight to one another and closed their eyes.
Its only 11:35 p.m.
-Next Day-
Morning just couldnt get here sooner when both Ninja comerades woke up, said a well deserved good morning and walked out to the mainroom and plopped down on the comfortable sofas before their nice artificial tree.
With its lights on it looked so abundant and innocent. There were three presents underneath the tree. One from both Kakashi and Iruka to eachother, and one present from the Hotel staff. The card said:
"To each our customers who chose to stay at our Hotel on this Holiday season. Thank you and have a Merry Christmas. --The staff"
Both Iruka and Kakashi smiled and exchanged gifts and opened them.
Kakashi got Iruka a pure white turtle dove with a miniature card attatched to it, Iruka had to squint to look at it.
"To a very close friend whom I hope has a merry holiday. Sincerely- Kakashi Hatake" "Oh, Kakashi...." Iruka was speechless. "You know turtle doves are known to represent a strong friendship. Theyre pure love in birds and keep close friends to heart. And I gave you this because you and I have a very strong friendship..." And with that he came over and kissed Iruka on the cheek. Of course, Iruka blushed and hugged him. "Thank you..." He choked. Kakashi smiled and rubbed his back. "Youre welcome."
Kakashi went over and opened his and saw the latest version of his all-time favourite novel. Icha Icha Paradise! Kakashi chuckled.
"Not a bad idea, Iruka sensei. Hopefully I wont scare the kids with this book like I did with my first ones..." He chuckled nervousely and scratched the back of his head. Both of them laughed and sat there for a couple of hours sipping hot cocoa. Next thing that happened was a fast rap at the dor then a shout:
"Hey, Iruka sensei!!! Kakashi seinsei!!!! Come out!!!!!! We have some gifts for you!!! Hey!!!"
Both of them made a pained laughing face. "There he is. Our little knuckle-head is here at last..."
Naruto, Sakura, and Sasuke both came in and handed them gifts and sat down with them.
"You know senseis I loved the gifts you got us. When we opened them this morning." Sakura commented, fluffing her new cherry-blossom scarf apparently from Kakashi.
Sasuke was looking at his with a little interest. Sort of embarrased. Sakura grabbed his hand and made him hold up the Shuriken images on his navy blue sweatshirt. And Naruto bounced in his seat holding his brand new orange jacket with black shoulders on them. "THANK YOU SENSEI!! THANK YOU!!!" He jumped up and hugged tightly his sensei.
They all laughed. Well, Sasuke smiled, but thats about all.
Man, what a merry christmas it was....
