Random thoughts of Shinko
Random thoughts or ponderings... might contain essays or peotry...
This is written through the view point of Elrond, form lotr. It's a fanficiotn poted on several sites, written be me.

I was there the day the race of Men failed.

The day all hope was lost and love was turned to ashes. The day when it was prooved that even hope ans sacrifice could not override greed. They day when all else was lost in the face of making the right choice, but insted making the wrong. When men showed their true side and chose to keep evil in the world when they had the chance to destroy it forever.

I was there that day, watching so many of my kinsmen die, how the ground was stained with blood, thick and crimson, how the deed of one good man was made to naught by the falseities of another. When the bonds of blood were broken by betreyal and the world was cursed once more. The day that the line of the kings of Gondor's honor was wiped to nothing. When plian foolishness was the cause of death and when that foolishness gave a way for sanctuary for the One.

I was there the day the race of Men failed.

New shall be blade that was broken
And crownless again shall be king.

How can the Hope of everything rest on one object? How can the seeming fate of all the world be set upon the use of a blade?

And the use of that blade be put upon the shoulders of one man?

A man who showed what he was the day he turned from the right road. When he chose to run over face it? How he chose to wonder aimlessly, and follow no path, to filter the shadows and never be what he was meant to be. To protect that which he has no duty to protect, to abandon what he must do in favor of a life of unknown. To live among the outsiders and shy from his birth right.

To turn away from, glory and honor and duty and the ability to untie a once great people and make them great again. To bring back the honor of Man, to rule this Middle Earth as all of the First-born leave... But no, he turned his back on that path a long time ago.

But is that fate all lost?

************

The betrayal of Men ran deep. All those after it were born with that shame on their heads. But can it be banished with the a singualr act of sacrifice and bravery?

Can honor be restored by the ultimate sacrifice, to give up one's life for a higher cause? To fight against the Death of Light and Goodness with the valor of a hero from the old tales, can with that honor be given? Can this great act over shadow the failure and shame of that life itself? By giving up one's life for the lives of other's, can this man be restored to honor?

The pain of Failure weighs heavy upon the weary soul. The pain of a fate already decided weighs heavier. Jelousy and anger and spite and envy can make this all heavier... But, I wonder...

Will this be overlooked in the mood of his last stand?
