Today I had to bring my 4 year old to the hospital for an EEG. We are trying to rule out seizures since she has a history of blank stares.

Now, most people would just say she is "daydreaming"... but from lots of reading and watching this happen on a regular basis for years I want to make sure they are not petit mal seizures. Petit mal seizures are also known as "absense epilepsy". it is usually indicated by blank staring for seconds to minutes and then returning to an activity.

Her EEG lasted 2 hours. 2 Hours of an extremely active 4 year old laying still with electrodes and wires attached to her head. WOW I was so surprised how patient she was.

Now fingers crossed that they didn't see anything.
