Holy crap, guys. Today is my Gaian birthday. I've been here for a whole YEAR! :O
(Also, it amuses me that my REAL birthday is a little over a week away. Weird how things happen like that, huh?)
When I first came here last year, I was completely enthralled by Gaia. I loved the cute little avatars and, for a while, that was all I cared about. I'm a very shy person, and forums tend to scare me... I usually lurk FAR more than I post. Hell, my post count is currently 1,704. Not even to 2,000 yet, in the span of a year. That's not really very many, is it?
In time, I started to post in the FF forum, even though I was very upset by the rampant stupidity. It almost made me give up on the forums completely. gonk But there were people that weren't retarded, and they all made me smile and kept me coming back to read their posts.
Ezelek, Owen, and Ess Tii Eph Yuu were three of the first people I remember admiring, as strange as that is now. (Just kidding, guys. xd ) I remember when I first saw the link to the Purge the FF Forums of Idiots guild in Owen's sig, and I followed it. After avoiding it for a day or so, I forced myself to post, even though I was sure they'd laugh at me and tell me to go away. ^^; But, amazingly, I was accepted into the guild... and I'm still so incredibly happy I was. I've made so many wonderful friends because of that guild, even though we've gone through hell and back... several times. That's part of what makes it so wonderful, though - we went through it together.
Of course, I love my buddies over at the Disgaea guild, as well. Kilraq and Achan are great people, and I honestly enjoy the roleplay over there... the very first roleplay I've ever taken part in, too! And I'm so happy I did! biggrin
I don't think I'd still be visiting Gaia today if it wasn't for all the awesome friends I've made here. And even though the stupidity and greed upsets me, I really HAVE grown to love this place. I'm excited to see what Lanzer and the other admins will create in the future, and I'm excited to see where things are going.
As strange as it is, I'm a better person for signing up at Gaia a year ago, thanks to all of my friends that made this place wonderful, and continue to do so every day. You guys are the best. Lots of love. heart
