INTRODUCTION
We all had these letters in our pm boxes once or twice (most of us much more times).
It eats our precious time when we delete it from our mailboxes, when we could be making Gaian gold.
It's so annoying, when you get the same spam letter over and over again! Hey, there's a reason for forums!
And today, I would like to discuss this crisis to the Gaian society.

WHAT SPAM LETTERS ARE
Spam letters are just a bunch of text, so that the person who created it would get gold for it.
But it is just a bunch of words thrown together.
Some may have good causes, but, again, that is why the forums are programmed for us to use.
Also to many, spam letters are annoying little text words, that exists to annoy you.

TYPES OF SPAM
To aid you, here is a rather long list of spam-works.

MONEY-MAKING LETTERS
As we all know, most of us got letters, claiming that if you follow a certain procedure,
it will turn out Gaian Gold.
Ok, so for all of you who believe this, just think:

1. The person would have to either get Gaia's permission,
or hack into the program.
2. Would YOU spend your time making a
gold-giving program in Gaia, and then giving it to random people?
Making such a program might take months.
3. It can easily be a virus.

Of course, there are rare moments when one DOES work.
But, this is mainly urls.
I have recieved one of these, and here to share it.

A item should appear.

Ok, back to the subject...

THE NPC's LETTER
The real NPC's said it over, and over, and over again.
Yet, people still do not listen to this useful advice...

GAIAN PROGRAMMERS WILL NOT ASK FOR YOUR PASSWORD

There are some out there, that claim they are the programmers,
and demand your password.
I've gotten one where such a person threatened deletion.
Remember:

If the person said to send your password to any other address than gaiaonline, they are fake. Even if their address was "GaiaAdmin@yahoo.com"

THE PETITION
Ok, so I haven't been on Gaia long enough to know about the petitions!
But why can't you just put it on the forums? There is more chance of people seeing it!
I've also seen both reasonable and idiotic petitions.
One stupid one is the Pet petition. Ok, we don't need a tab for a Momo or Yeti.
They are already in such a tab, called "Items".
I'm sure you don't have 100 items, so that you cannot find your yeti.
The only thing that it will do is give more strain on the NPC, who controls the programming.

THE MASS KILLING, GENOICIDE, ETC.
Yes, I strongly support these causes.
I hate to se unjustice done to the world. But, again, there's a reason for forums.
It pains me to see the clouding of a baby seal,
but it also pains me to see this same letter in my mailbox everyday.
I already know about it.
Put it on the forum, where it can be better seen.

THE CHARITIES
Again, go to the forums.
There's a lot of donation threads waiting out there. sweatdrop

THE HORROR
For all of you with weak hearts, this might ease you:

1. Thousands of people are opening this same mail.
I doubt this thing can kill 10 thousand people around the world in one night.
2. Uhh... if the person was dead, how did they type it?

WHAT IS NOT CONSIDERED SPAM
Yes, some people may think such letters are spam.
But, literally, they're not

WELL WISHING
Uhhh...people are just saying hello, and wishing you well...
It's not like they're asking for money...It's just a moments kindness...

INVITATIONS
There are many types of invites.
Constant invites that multiplies by ten when you delete one is spam.
Small invites to parties, weddings, role-playing threads,
and such, are just...well...invites...

THE OFFER
Ok, so someone seen your item on the marketplace.
They message you with a offer. It's not spam...
It's business, and it's rude not to reply.
And, you could had missed a great bargain.

My memory isn't working too well, so I'll cut this off.

Depends. If you asked the people you know on Gaia a lot of times,
then yes, it is spam. Asking once isn't.
