Durahan's Warehouse. This place used to be a high tech facility, but then the military left. And so did the bums who inhabited it. Now, it's just Durahan, and his strange chatter.

Chapter 3: Up Hill Struggle
That night, i didnt sleep a wink, i just laid there, thinking about the whole
ordeal of that day. Knowing what could happen to me if i slept and what
might happen even if i were awake. So i just laid there, looking at the stars,
trying to to make any noise.

Morning came, and my thoughts began to turn away from me, and to my
freinds. Were they alive? Had they survived this first night of the
apocolypse? Or like so many others, had they fallen to the imps, and ogres,
and whatever else came from the monstrous portal that filled the morning sky.
I wondered how many people i knew were gone for good.

All night long, i listened to screams, and explosions, echoing from the city, and
from the hill tops. Finally, morning had come, i didn't know wether there was
anyone left, but i had to see.

"who should i go to?" I thought to myself, i knew my parents probably were dead,
thanks to that big ogre. But i couldnt just sit and wait for them to come after me,
i was sure they would smell the blood eventually. So i began to walk. To where?
The only place i could think to go, Alex's house. I knew he had weapons, and if
anyone could have survived, it would have been him. Pins or no pins, he was my
best bet, so I began my trek to his house. Normally it would have been just a
hard walk up the hill, but this time, there were other things to worry about,
other than running short on breath.

As i walked up the steep hill, i heard nothing. it was as if there wasnt anything
over there. It had me very worried. Was everyone dead? Is Alex already dead?
I began to hurry as fast as i could up the hill, the Demon Imps' swords were at
at my sides, i was ready for anything as i hurried up the last few feet of the hill.
Alex's neighboorhood in full view, i stood in awe. Most of the houses were in ruin,
others, were burning and only a few remained untouched.

"Some of the people must still be alive!" i thought, "not everyone could have died,
there must be someone" but as i saw the devastation, i quickly came to terms with
the truth. Everyone MUST be dead. Then, i saw Alex's house. There was practically
no damage to it, and there were imp corpses, and other things i hadnt seen before strewn
throughout the yard. He was alive!

"ALEX!!!!!" i yelled "ARE YOU THERE?!" i saw movment in his house. The door opened
slowly, and he stepped into view. He was bleeding from his leg, but it was only a little
bit. "ALEX!!!! Are you ok? Did you kill all these?" he just looked at me, he was holding
his sword tightly, "its ME Alex, its ME"

"How can i know that for sure? You ARE holding THEIR weapons!!" he said coldly,

"Well, if it were anyone but me, you couldnt defeat them with milk." i said, and a
relieved look swept across his face.

"COME IN HURRY" he said, and i ran inside. It felt so good to sit on a couch.
"What the hell happened?" he asked me, as if he expected me to spew out an
explanation. "One minute im sittin here on the computer, the next my mom and
dogs are in the yard screaming. I couldn't even get to them in time."

I just sat there, looking at him, as he stared at the floor in disbelief. "Are they
Demons?" he said "did they come from hell to get us?" he said more, but i stopped
listening, he was gone, just thinking aloud, and i let him do so. im sure i would do the
same, if i were there, when my parents were killed.

I picked up the phone, and dialed my dad's cell phone. All lines were dead. I knew
for a fact that my family was gone. I would never see them again, but i wasn't as
sad as i should have been, other things were on my mind, i had to get to my freinds,
and i knew Alex would agree with me, once he snapped out of it, untill then, i just
sat there, and listened, to the silence of the outside world.

At some point he stopped talking. I was relieved, the way he had been talking, it
sounded as if he had truly lost it. It had been three hours since i got to his house,
and we hadnt done anything. I felt a sense of urgency, in my stomach, it hurt. I
knew there was nothing we could do alone, but we stood a chance with other people.

Night came. Once again it was a sleepless night, but this time, we talked strategy.
Things that needed to be done, and how they must be done. Tomorow was a new day,
day three of the apocolypse, a day for action. Tomorow we would get our living
friends, and bury the dead ones. Tomorow we would hit the mall, and stores, and
find an H.Q. Tomorow....

Four long hours went by, in the small pantry, when we heard a loud scream outside.
It definitly was not from a person, whatever it was, it was looking for us. Knowing
that if it found us in the pantry, it could get us, easily, we grabbed our weapons,
and stealthed out into the kitchen. We could see it in the street, it was about seven
feet tall, and had 6 legs. It was like a big spider, only it had less eyes. It saw us in
the house, and burst in through the window. We both jumped up, and ran straigt at
it.

I swung my sword and caught it in the leg. Alex, spun around it, and stabbed it in the
back. As our blades cleaved its flesh it let out a horrible scream. It screamed so loud
that my ears began to hurt, but i didnt stop chopping. It swung at me, and through me
across the room. I landed on the dining room table. It hurt like hell, but i couldn't just
lie there, i got back up, and returned blows. This time, I took its leg all the way off.

Alex stabbed and stabbed, untill finally, our collective blows brought the creature
down. It shook violently, as it was dying. Alex just stood there, and watched, but I
couldnt stand to see it anymore, so i chopped it in the head, it stopped moving.

We sat there, looking at it, the room was spinning as the adrenaline pumped through
our veins. There was blood everywhere, in a normal world, we would have thought about
cleaning it up, but now this world is anything but normal. The walls, stained red with
blood, brought a true closure to the end of our world. Now we must wait, for at dawn,
our scramble for a place in this world, must begin.
