The years slip slowly by her,
Hidden behind these walls.
Each year full of past memories,
Time just waiting for her to fall.
Yet she hangs on tightly to each new day,
Scared to let go, wanting so badly to stay.
She knows that he is waiting for her,
Yet she yearns for another day to play.
Another day to see her son,
Watch her grand-children play and run.
She is starting to get tired now,
just one more day to see the sun.
One more day to see the snow fall,
Hear the birds singing from the window near by.
She feels him waiting for her,
She can not bear to hear her family cry.
She has been behind these walls forever,
It would be easy to just close her eyes.
She knows his loving arms are waiting,
Closing her eyes, one last sigh.
