Kana Sohma fell out of bed as her alarm cruelly sounded in the middle of her Hatori dream. Grumbling something incoherently she got up and went to the bathroom. The sooner she got ready the sooner she could see the object of her affection.

Kana arrived at work with two seconds to spare. Breathing a sigh of relief she crept into the office and was relieved to see that Hatori-san was preparing the examination rooms. Quietly she slipped a tiny package into his binder and giggled. Hatori-san would be so surprised. “Kana, is that you?” Hatori’s voice floated out of the room to her and Kana blushed. He even sounded hot. “Yes, Hatori-san! Would you like some help?” She began walking to the room. “No thank you, I’m practically finished. You could begin sorting through all the admission papers.”


Kana nodded even though he could not see her and skipped over to her desk. A few minutes later Hatori appeared and walked to over to his desk. Fighting the urge to laugh, Kana discreetly watched Hatori through lowered lashes.

Hatori sat at his desk and sighed softly. Today was Valentine’s Day. In his opinion it was the most meaningless holiday in the calendar. Only fools celebrated it. Fools like Ayame and Shigure. He sighed and didn’t even want to think of what those two dorks had planned for today. Whatever; he had work to do. Quickly he flipped open his folder and froze. There, smack dab in the middle of his binder, was a flat, medium box wrapped in brightly colored paper.

He turned his head slightly and saw that Kana was seated at her desk working intently on her task. He frowned and turned back to the package. Hesitantly he reached out to touch it before snatching his fingers back. This was ridiculous! It was just a present. And who knows, it was probably from Shigure. After all, Kana couldn’t possibly like him. He was melancholic. She was bubbly. He hardly smiled. The day Kana didn’t have a smile on her face was the day that the world ended.

No, it couldn’t be her. He relaxed somewhat and quietly unwrapped the paper. It was obviously not quiet enough because a second later Kana appeared by his side squealing, “Oh Hatori-san! How wonderful! You have a present on Valentine’s day. Who’s it from?” Her eyes sparkled softly and Hatori felt his cheeks warm. “Umm…I-I don’t know.” Kana giggled and said, “Well open it silly!”

Hatori hid a smile and quietly opened the box. His breath hitched and he felt his heart slam against his chest. Inside were two tickets to an opera playing that night but what caught his attention was a tiny note that said will you be my valentine? Kana ‘heart’s’ Hatori… Kana ‘heart’s’ Hatori? He immediately turned his gaze to the girl beside him and was surprised to see that Kana’s face was bright red. She became even redder and said stumbling, “Ha-Hatori, will you? Will you b-be my Valentine?” It was on the tip of his tongue to decline politely when suddenly she was pressing her soft mouth against his…

Kana eye’s fluttered close as she kissed Hatori gently on the mouth. She hadn’t meant to but the opportunity had presented itself and she hadn’t been able to resist. After a few moments she pulled back and smiled as Hatori opened his eyes. He studied her for a moment before whispering a soft yes. Kana smiled triumphantly and was about to speak when Hatori leaned upwards and caught her mouth with his. Kana sighed happily. Could life get more perfect than that?

HEY PEOPLE!!!! Just wanted to show some love for v-day by writing this one-shot on how Kana and Hatori got started! Hope you guys liked it!! BTW! Just in case your wondering, Hatori is still sitting down and Kana is leaning over him. Alright
