...Which brings us to tonight's WORD: Media

I really do love the impact that the media has on the general public. The media that I am talking about today though, just happens to be the wonderful and highly entertaining Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report; former Senior Correspondent of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart. Stephen is famous for many things: The Word, Tip of the Hat/Wag of the Finger, fear of bears, the Saginaw Spirit (GO SPIRIT CAW!), truthiness, the banana, and also one of the biggest things... his speech at the White House Correspondents' Dinner.

For those who watched last night's February 28th, 2007 episode, Stephen made note that his "eBook", the speech at the White House, was not only never an audio book but an audio-audio, BUT it was also in fifth place on the top downloaded eBooks on iTunes... Beating out Barack Obama by one place. Fifth place is not enough for Stephen though. He told his viewers to download and download and download until he reaches number one. Checking my iTunes store today, I couldn't help but laugh and spurt out an, "Oh my god." That's right, Nation. Stephen Colbert's speech at the White House Correspondents' Dinner has moved from fifth to SECOND place!

Way to go, Nation! I love the power of media! Even though I am Canadian, I have no interest in my country's politics anymore. It's all about Indecision '08 and Obamania. I really do hope that he will come to Oshawa on the 20th of March, Stephen Colbert Day. That would be amazing. I would totally drive to 'Shwa just to see him. Though, I am still baffled as to how he managed to transform an Oshawa Generals jersey into boxers. That man has some skill.

Hah, I love Stephen Colbert and how he has managed to build an empire with not only the help of his fans, but also the ability of the media.
