Thump, thump, thump,
I hear the beating of his drum,
Awaking me so suddenly is the beating of his drum,
Tearing me from dreaming is the beating of his drum,
His mediocre music from the beating of his drum,
Startling my silence is the beating of his drum,
I wake up shivering, quivering,
Sweating feverishly; uncanny so,
I wish to find the cause of the beating of his drum,
Lying at my heel is he, speared through his chest,
His blood climbs up my ankle and, in my solemn silence I,
Can still hear the beating of that drum,
War is the beating of his drum,
Bullets flash before my eyes, but I will never cease til I,
Stop the beating of his drum,
Thump, thump, thump.
