Kabba-Desh
Kabba-desh

The morning air was cool and crisp. I could hear the sounds of life stir to wakefulness all around me. The fog departed quickly before the rising sun as if it were frightened by the glory of the suns light. It was then that I saw her. She seemed to be made from sunlight and air. The gown she wore was made of woven silver, and her hair was the color of spun gold; and both shone brightly in the morning light.
I looked back at my brothers they too saw this lady come from the sun. Audi still mounted on Mika, grabbed Kai, in a swooping motion.
“Neils, Mika doesn’t like her,” Audi whispered, as Mika Audi’s bird steed pranced in place as if the ground was the hot sands of the Kabba-Desh. I jerked my head to the entrance we had just found moments before the sun lady appeared. Audi snapped the reins and Mika took off leaving me to face the sun lady, alone.
She hovered above the Bacca-desh, which had begun to warm the morning sun. Her eyes, emotionless, cold, and empty, focused on to me. I forced my self to look away. “Why are you here?” Her voice stern as a mother to a naughty child.
“We got lost.”
It was true. Kai had chased after some desert lizard and Audi and I chased after him as good brothers do. The lizard escaped Kai’s grasp and darted into the entrance. Upon finding him, we had lost our caravan. Not knowing which way to go we had let Mika lead the way. Mika had followed Kai’s lizard into the entrance. Which lead us here to the Bacca-desh, and the great castle that stood in the middle. The Abbaharakie had been suspicious of such a thing, and had spread rumors of a great wurm guarding it.
“Lies! You come to awake the water Goddess!” The sun lady shrieked.
I turned and ran for the entrance. The sun lady was shooting fire at me I could feel the intense heat and cackle as each jet miss me by a feather length I’m sure some of my hair was charred. The inside of the castle was white and almost clean, the farther I ran into the building. Though I didn’t get to stop and look around.
“Stop, filthy creature! I will not have you soil Solulus’s work!”
I looked behind me and there was the sun lady, her gown of silver now deep red fire, hair black as it wafted up like smoke, her visage now was sucking in light. I looked around at the dead end I ran into, a fancy fountain that had long ago dried up and an armor that had long ago rusted. The lady advanced on me her eyes like dull embers, her pale lips pulled up in a sneer showing off yellow pointed teeth. She licked her lips.
“I shall feast upon your virgin flesh and offer you to my master!”
Honestly that freaked me out more then her sudden change in appearance. I made a dash for the armor, only for her to blast it away. “Okay maybe the fountain,” I thought as I scrambled for it. The lady laughed, it echoed off the vaulted ceiling. Amplifying the noise, I dove into the fountain and clamped my ears.
“Pitiful,” she snarled. I felt the intense heat, the stone that I hid behind melted. Then nothing there was a falling sensation, but no heat. I opened my eyes to see a deep blue. What was it? Where was I? Am I dead?
The pain! I hit the blue and it hurt, tiny ice needles penetrated my skin and bones. I gasp only to choke. Water! I’m in water. I try to move my stunned arms to swim, even though I don’t know how to swim. Living in a desert wouldn’t help either.
The water is so cold my thrashing hands connect with something solid. I pull myself up, not caring about my hands as they start to bleed. I manage to regain my breath as I look around; the only light comes from the water; which I’m surrounded by the rock or encrusted statue that I have pulled my self up on is in the middle of the glowing water. The room is really a huge cavern; I can see the hole which I fell from.
I pat myself down nervously, finally remembering about my precious cargo. Hoping that the egg I was carrying had not smashed when I hit the water’s surface. I sigh. I had purloined this egg from the Abbaharakie festival Slatter were they crushed the eggs found in the wurm graveyard. The egg was still whole and dry, that was odd I was soaked I placed the egg in a puddle and it seemed to soak up the water. The egg started to glow, a bit before dimming. Sharp noises cause me to jerk up back to the hole I saw a reddish glow coming from it.
The sun lady, was coming, I hid the egg back into my soggy outfit, and started to climb the statue. I was clinging to a round gem cut part of the statue when the sun lady came out of the hole fling fire balls every where. One hit the base of the statue, which shook causing me to smash my forehead into the rock before me.
“Clinging to your gods! Worm,” She cackled.
I looked at her before I tried to climb up higher, hoping to think of a better plan. The blood from my forehead oozed into my vision, my hands still slick with blood failed to grasp the rock. A fire ball hit the rock to my left rock shrapnel hit me and again I fell. No visions of my life flashed before my eyes, just the thought of my poor brothers.
The sun freak of a lady was laughing, she started to choke and then something must have hit her because now she was falling too. My back connected with something hard, not the water this time. I rolled to the side and watched the flaming freak fall into the water with a sizzle, I huffed and rolled back. I hurt everywhere, and all I wanted to do was sleep.

I awoke to the harsh sun beating down on me my limbs were stiff, and my head throbbed a form blocked out the sun. It knelt next to me and held a skin up to my lips. I drank the water, but it wasn’t what I expected. The water was stale and unfulfilling I looked back at the figure; purple, red beady eyes looked at me with keen interest. It was an Abbaharakie yet I didn’t recognize it, so it wasn’t one from, the caravan. This one had feathers; I would have remembered one that had feathers.
“zash arec…kaver,” the creature grunted at me.
If it had not been for Audi who had taught me the little Abbaharakie I know I would have just looked at the purple lizard.
“Ya kaver, I kaber,” I managed to ground out.
The lizard looked at me a bit before smirking and laughing loudly, as it got up from its position.
“Up Dulper-ur, to the camp.”
I followed the Abbaharakie as it led me towards a cart. I got in and it pulled the cart up a mountain, I was a bit confused from what Audi had told me only a few of the U-resh (elders) spoke English, there were only five and none of them were purple. Come to think of it I’ve never seen a purple Abbaharakie. As for the feathers I’ve only seen one other from a distance that had feathers and that one had been green. I folded my arms as the lizard picked up speed; I watched the scenery change from sand to rock.
The camp was different form the ones I was acquainted with, this one looked Permanent, most Abbaharakie camps could be packed up in minutes if a sand storm was coming. Then this camp was in the mountains, and I doubted there could be a sand storm this far away from the sand.
I was lifted out of the cart by the purple Abbaharakie and slung over its back.
“I Koyla, what is you Dulper-ur?”
My brother Audi had told me it was hard for the Abbaharakie to speak English, most didn’t even bother. I cleared my throat.
“Neils.”
“Aquos Neils, stay,” Koyla informed me as he dropped me into a tent.
I looked around the tent is mild fascination, before Koyla roped the door shut. Then it dawned on me I was a prisoner of this Koyla. Well as long as it wasn’t the fire lady, at least I could make out what Koyla was trying to say. I sat down on the soft skin near the small fire pit and watched the embers they reminded me of the fire lady. I smiled she had fallen into the water, my smile faded as I thought of my brothers.
What about them? I need to find them, I hope they aren’t hurt.
I got up and started to pace, I had no skills that could be traded to get out of this camp. Not like I could survive in the desert in the first place. I paused, and relaxed we were headed towards Noel (null) I would meet them there. I flopped back down on the skin and closed my eyes.
