The still silence was broken as the blond haired boy ran across the water. His goal was simply to make it through, and get one step closer to saving the princess.

To his misfortune, the door on the other side of the room was barred shut. He had no choice but to turn back. Perhaps there was something he had overlooked?

Trying to think of what he could have missed, he ran past the dead tree in the center of the room...

There was Dark Link. He jumped out, seemingly out of nowhere, and forced Link into a fight.

How long it lasted, neither could tell. Minutes or hours, it seemed days to them. Each second threatening to end the existence of one of them.

Blood mixed with the water, swirling around, crimson and black flecking the faces of the two. Neither boy payed any mind to the pain, only to his look alike, and trying to come out of the battle victorious.

Dark became distracted. His mind seemed to wander for a moment, his eyes glazing over. The expression on his pale face, that of desire.

But for what?

It mattered not.

In that moment of lost focus, he was defeated.

Or so Link thought.

As Dark disappeared, the bars on the door lifted. Link ran and passed through.

As soon as Link had gone and the door had been shut, Dark appeared, suffering at the base of the tree from which he had leapt at Link.

The silence...
