LifeQuest I have lost certain items. I am on an adventuraous quest to find them. I wonder who or what I'll meet along the way.

The Past
redface I have an average beginning. My parents met in the Vietnam War era and married quickly. They both were in the Army. Dad went off to war leaving a pregnant bride behind. My brother was born in 1969. I was always envious that he was born in the sixties and I was born in the seventies. 1971 The best year of that decade. My dad came home to stay in 1973. We moved around a lot because he stayed in the Army. My mom was a bra burner. She was a progressive woman who believed in womens rights. She left the farm town of her youth to strike out on her own when she joined the Army. Funny, my dad lived twenty miles from her growing up and yet they didn't meet until they were in Georgia. I was born in my mom's hometown in Kansas. Then when dad came home we moved to Texas. I took my first steps in Texas. That started a love affair that would last almost a lifetime. I love Texas. Then we skipped around and moved to Europe. Germany had a different way of looking at things. I learned the language and loved the people. My mom worked when I was a small child. I loved "Aunt" Carla. She was a New York Italian married to a New York Pollock. They had a wonderful sense of humor, always poking fun at each other. I know the best whop and Pollock jokes because of these lovely people. And that started another love affair. People that are passionate and full of life. I spent a couple of years in the Puget sound area in Washington state. That was cool. We'd go hiking and camp out int he wilderness and the mountains. Dad was a recruiter for the Army and we threw a lot of parties. It was the late seventies. I could disco with the best of them ( I was under ten they all thought I was adorable). Then we spent the early eighties back in Germany. I left when I was ten. I didn't get back to the states until 1986. I had met this gu while I was overseas. when I was thirteen he was eighteen. And I was so in love. Or so I thought. The summer of '86 was a culture shock for me. The way of life in the army and overseas is nothing like the MTV culture I came home to. We watched the movies in Germany and thought that life was like The Fast Times of Ridgemont High. It wasn't. I went to the 7-11 and didn't know how to use the slushy machine. We had one English channel in Germany and we came back to cable. A wonderful invention. I was 14 that summer and life was going to start changing fast and it's been a grand adventure ever since. Part I maybe more to come
