"In any story worth telling, the third wish is the one used to undo the harm caused by the first two wishes." - Granny Weatherwax, Terry Pratchett's "A Hat full of Sky"
Child on Daddy's Knee
I got an e-mail ages and ages ago that was something like this. I try to use the imagery any time I feel far from my Daddy. Hopefully you'll get the identity without me having to tell you until the end.

The King was on His golden throne. His court of mighty angels was gathered around for this important meeting, and they were deep in discussion.

At the far end of the court were a pair of doors, silver and gold, with beautiful engravings. Now, these heavy doors swung open, and a small girl in a white smock appeared. She ran down the marble aisle, her bare-feet slapping the floor and her brown hair streaming out behind. "Daddy, Daddy!" she cried, her voice showing the tears that only now fell from her green eyes.

The King held up His hand. The angels parted from the aisle, and the child ran through the opening. Her arms were raised to her Father, Who scooped her up and carefully set her on His great lap.

"What is it, My child?" He asked in a voice that was deep, gentle, and comforting.

The child wiped a tear away and looked up into her Daddy's face. "I gots a splinter," she said, her chin quivering as she raised her hand to show him the brown line in her palm. "It really really hurts, Daddy!"

The King smiled comfortingly and took her hand. He gave it a gentle squeeze, and healed it completely, at the same time removing any pain she had received while coming to Him on the cold marble floors. "There, My child. No more pain."

The child grinned widely, her teeth showing in the gap. She stood on His lap, put her hands on His chest, and leaned forward, laying a slightly sloppy kiss on His cheek. With a smile in return, He set her down and gave her a gentle push to get her started. As she ran out the massive doors, she called back, "Thank you Daddy!!". The meeting resumed.

God made everything you could possibly see. Next time you feel like you can't handle anything, go run to the Father who made those millions of billions of trillions of GAZILLIONS of stars, and He will help you through.
