It's August 19th and I'm back in school.
I have to be smart
Start followin the rules.

It's almost prom who should I take?
Should I take her?
Or is that a mistake?

So I asked her to prom, here's what she said:
"I really can't go
ask her instead"

So I went up to her and showed my affection.
She gave me a kiss
as a sign of rejection.

Standing there you could feel my heart beat.
Who woulda known, rejection
could taste so sweet.
