religious D&D
Religion is a powder keg of emotions, as manny of you fine ladies and gentleman know, and I for one am not disputing this factor. However, there are ways of emulating that feelng without resorting to violence as so many have taken to do. At it's core, all religions are prediated on a higher power that one must have faith in and obey said higher powers tennents. Tennent that are handed down, or so it is said, by said higher power to men and women of their respective faiths. Depending on ones axis of beleif, one must either take the teachings by said religious leaders with a grain of salt, or go balls to the wall in belief and eforce the tennents of theese so called saints, preists, and so on. Which brings us to the Palidan, the ever preasent warrior of the faith.Over the years of Dungeons & Dragons, we have seen a plethora of holy men and women take up the mantle of Gods mighty warrior, Handing down the judgments he deams fit for a persons sins. While this is a noble undertaking, we must consider that through the eyes of one palidan the sins of man are not the same sins as they are through another palidans eyes. And it is this interpretative liberty that causes such a scew in the various faiths. This is where Clerics and Inquisitors are much better representations of religious characters in D&D.

Clerics as most know, are holy men in their own right, but do not necesarily have to follow a good Deity, meaning that there are such things as evil clerics. However, while clerics have more liberty to act freely, They must still revere their deity and seak to spread their teachings. This is why it is much better, at least in some ways, to be a palidan. While Clerics are more well endowed with healing magics, it should be noted that they are limited in their effectiveness in battle, unless they spec out their combative abilities.

This brings us to the inquisitor, which I think is the best class for a religious character to be. For starters, they are not anywhere near as restricted as the palidan or the Cleric, making the perfect middleground. Plus, while working with the church, an inquisitor is the one person that an go off the tennents to get the results they need, ends justifying the means
