So Much More
I’m sitting in the truck that’s rumbling as it hurls forward, tugging at the fifth wheel and four motor bikes its hauling. I turned my phone off hours ago, knowing for a fact I wouldn’t have service way out here in the middle of nowhere. Everyone else in the vehicle has resorted to plugging their ears with iPods or consuming themselves in a book. Not me. How could I ignore such wonderful beauty passing by me at 80 miles an hour? The sage brush smell burns my nostrils in a very pleasant way. The ground rises and falls as the free way cuts straight through it with ease. Dark ominous clouds float by the white fluffy ones with a quick pace that says its heading the same direction me are with no sign of stopping to leave us dry. Pinks, purples, oranges, reds and even some greens scream across the sky as the sun sets in the west, blazing a final goodbye to me before giving me a moon to gaze at instead. The shadows of oddly shaped sage brush and the lone Joshua tree send chills down my spine as I try to tare my eyes away from the moon. It’s rising so solemnly to only be hidden by the rain clouds. The soft pitter patter of rain drops hit my face as someone yells from the front seat to roll up my window. Out here in the middle of nowhere, there is so much more then bright neon lights of the city and blaring car horns. I can hear a wolf cry in the distance, giving a whole hearted scream to the moon I wish so dearly I could see. But the rain is beginning to pour and make it hard to see much of anything. I watch the blurred colors whoosh by as I fall asleep to the rains lullaby.
