These Words are My Own, From my Heartflow...
Josie's Story
Hello! My name is Josie. Now, you may be wondering why I made the change from Realty to Shopkeep. But let's slow down, shall we? First off, how many of you know that I'm British? Hm? Did you ever take the time to imagine my voice? No you careless text based user, you most certainly did not! Well, now that that's out of the way you can listen to me how I ought to be heard. Onto the story then.

I want to make a note. I know I know, I'm dragging on and whatnot, but I just want to tell you that my story isn't a simple transfer from one job to the next. No, I had to try many things before landing this gig!

You see, what happened was I was getting rather bored with my job. Yeah yeah, I got to see new faces and give tips every day, I get it. I probably saw you there too! But that's all I did! I gave the same introductory speech twenty four hours a day, never taking a rest, nobody taking the time to listen to me. You can't blame me for wanting to try to get away! It seems my face was rather too pleasant to just let go of so easily though. So, I had to push to get away. I needed to venture where no NPC had gone before, to a place that so desperately needed order that nobody would go near it.

That's how I started running the games platform. Oh, don't you scoff at me! Who do you think got zOMG! up and running? Hm? Who do you think had to fix all of the little tiny bugs people faced from day to day? Me! I had to do it! I had to set up the milk cartons in pinball, and hand shuffle the puzzle pieces! Oh my God that job was a busy one. A week of that and the housing business was sorely missed. I couldn't help it. I was going to be collapsed under a growing pile of first world problems that I couldn't fix. I needed a way out, and fast.

Well, luckily for me a different opportunity came up. The person who normally cleaned the scum from the lakes had transferred into the Realty business! How appropriate it was for me to take their place? And happily, I might add, I did take it! So, I suited up in an outfit of blue, grabbed a rather large fishing net, and scraped the scum and algae from the edge of the lake. It was an unforgiving job.. backbreaking really. Not to mention my nails never lived to grow more than a centimeter without breaking agin! But, on the plus side, I didn't have anybody complaining to me or asking me questions or hounding me for a snickers bar (which happens just about anywhere but the lake). No, I was free to skim that lake all I wanted. But, soon another problem arose. I quit after a week. I just wasn't happy! Now there was nobody to talk to! When you take that and pair it with the fact that citizens find it funny to throw guppies at the skimmers, then you can obviously see why a week was enough.

Thankfully, one of the other skimmers alerted me to a cleaner, more civil job. So, I started filing paperwork for Gaia Hall. Yes, when it came to new Gaians, old Gaians, short Gaians, tall Gaians, and those in suspicion of mulery, I put the files where they needed to go. It was definitely cleaner, and was most certainly an upgrade from getting fire colored guppies thrown at you. But soon, I began to wonder what I could possibly do from here. I was busy all day. People applied to become Gaians every day! Paired with the loads of investigative paperwork and those who had committed infractions to the ToS, I was swamped. Millions of papers kept coming in, needing to be put in the right spot so that they weren't overlooked. The paperwork kept piling and piling and piling. One day, I found that a paper fortress had formed around me! I couldn't get out! I was drowning in paper! I would have been stuck forever if I hadn't filed my notice of termination. I left it at the bottom of a huge paper pile. I'm sure they'll find it eventually.

So, after that, I didn't know where to go. Yes, there were plenty of jobs in the realm of Gaia, but none that seemed to suit me! I wanted a good job. I wanted a job where I got to talk to people all day. Not to just answer questions like an automaton, but actually talk. I wanted to use my creativity instead of repeating the same thing over and over and over again. But, where would I go? I was a single black woman without a job. And without a baby. Yeah I know you were stereotyping. You can stop that.

I spent a month out of the job. I was looking and looking, but nothing seemed to pop out. I considered modeling for an ad that Gaia was going to put on facebook, but I knew that I didn't have the stature to be a model. I was much too detailed for what they were looking for. I considered going back to my old job, but the market had fallen. They had to start up a whole new area! I was completely miserable. If I learned one thing from that job, it was that I didn't want to do it ever again. I was depressed, and I hadn't done my laundry in a long time. I was going to go to Skin Tyte to change my style up a bit, maybe get a piercing, but the only thing in my closet was a funky traditional Indian outfit that I had worn to my mother's best friend's cousin's daughter's wedding. A Sari, it is.

When I walked down the boulevard towards Skin Tyte, I noticed that a lot of people were staring at me. They were mesmerized by the uniqueness of my clothing. That's when it hit me! I didn't need to change up my style, if I had the opportunity to change everyone's style! I filed for a Gaian business license that very day. Of course, it took awhile, seeing as Gaia Hall hadn't gotten a new filer, but eventually, I was ready to go!

That's my story. Now I'm standing in front of you here, with styles from all over the country. I get to talk to you, and I get to order things that nobody else can even say they've ever seen in real life before. Saris, Kimonos, Uchiwa Fans, you name it! I am finally a relatively happy camper. Though... I do like the sound of comic management...
