Internet Journal = Saved A Tree
My journal. Be afraid. And save some trees...
My poor kitty...
He's diabetic. We took him to the vet this morning, finally, and they kept him so they can get his blood sugar under control and figure out what dose of insulin he's gonna need and all that stuff. He is not gonna be a happy kitty when we get him back. Heh. And he's gonna be awful hard to find twice a day. We hafta give him insulin shots twice a day, recommended at twelve-hour intervals. And we are going to have to control what and how much he eats. And then we also have to moniter his glucose levels. But that's okay, as long as my kitty feels better.

He spend almost all day Saturday puking. He musta puked like 7 times. Plus he's been losing a ton of weight and he has trouble walking cause his back legs are really weak and don't work so great due to diabetic neurosis. And then he was so thirsty and then had to urinate all the time, and couldn't always get to the litter box. It was pretty sad. I'm so glad that we know what's wrong with him. I hated watching my kitty suffer so much. He doesn't deserve to be in that kind of pain.

It would have ended sooner if my parents had listened to me. I had been telling them for months that there was something wrong with my cat and that he was probably diabetic and that we needed to take him to a vet as soon as possible. Did they listen? No. So my kitty got sicker and sicker. The poor thing had to puke up white foam and what appeared to be blood before my parents would take him to the vet. And my dad, I swear to god I almost killed him. Even after I showed my mom the blood in his vomit, my dad kept putting it off as nothing, saying the cat prolly licked up some cherry pie that we had on the table. Hey dad, guess what. Although my cat eats table food, he only eats it if someone gives it to him or off of an almost-empty plate. He does not eat food off the table if it has a cover over it, because he knows that it means stay out of it. The pie was covered. Plus, the cat had been sleeping behind a chair in the living room all day, waking up to go to cat box once and to get a drink a few times, and of course to vomit. Not to jump up on the kitchen table with his weak, hurting back legs and eat a goddamned pie.

So now my kitty is being treated and I'm glad. Hopefully it won't be too expensive to buy his insulin and needles and diabetic cat food and such. Also, we are now aware of a potential liver problem that we and the vet can watch closely to make sure my cat stays as healthy as possible for the rest of his days, which will hopefully keep coming for a good many years. Maybe he'll live to be twenty. That would be good, he's ten or eleven right now. Hehe. He can make twenty easy. =)

Anyways, that's my entry, and now I'm off to rot my brain with video games. Bye bye.
