Which is doubtful - who uses Gaia Online anymore?
This update was prompted by the this video by Red Bard... where my old post about the infamous Gamification powerpoint is prominently featured. Really, really strange to see myself on YouTube but here we are.
So what have I been up to?
... not as much as you would expect.
In typical millennial fashion, I'm stuck in a rut, not really moving anywhere fast. Stuck in my hometown, stuck in a dead end to pay bills, stuck in student loan debt, etc etc etc. But enough about that. Here are the more interesting things I've done in the past six years:
Received a Master's degree in music performance Studied/performed briefly in Italy and Germany Attended many amazing concerts, classical and non-classical Befriended a band Lost all of the weight that i gained in grad school Solo traveled a few times and enjoyed it greatly Adopted a cat (actually she adopted us) Met several prominent people in the video game field - Marty O'Donnell, Michael Salvatori, Grant Kirkhope, Nobuo Uematsu(!!!), Charles Martinet, and most recently David Hayter Performed in a few operas, one where I was the title character
Most importantly is realizing I want to pursue a PhD is musicology, specifically ludmusicology. Ludomusicology seems to be the natural culmination of my love of music and video games. We shall see though, given all of my student load debt...
Anyhoo, that's enough I think. I think this is more for me than anyone else - I think I needed to write out the good things that have happened. I too easily forget them since I always focus on the negative.
If anyone reads this, I hope you are well. I doubt I'll make coming back here a habit. Who knows, maybe I'll pop in again in a few years if Gaia still exists...
EDIT: ... also apparently my account is 16 years old today in four days. I clearly remember making my account that day. Wow, I'm old.
