Yesterday we got an item update! It's all about spring and swimming so we got many pretty bathing suits and bikinis, swimming trunks, sandals and other beach accessories.

The items are quite affordable, and the style ranges from innocent and cute to skimpy. I really like the lace up cork sandals and the colourful shorts. I'm glad that there are some pink and orange items!^^

As you've surely noticed, there was an item update with Egyptian stuff yesterday. I have to say, I'm extremly satisfied with the items, they're so pretty and useful.
I'm really in love with the long linen dresses, as they have a quite nice shape, but all the gold jewelry is great, too. There are also wigs, quite pretty ones. Did anybody else have the urge to yell "Rick James, b***h!"? I guess that's what you get for watching too much TV.^^;

The items are not too expensive, but also not so cheap that most people could buy all of them at once. I think the price range is just right.

So, what do you think about the items? Do you like them?

As you surely have noticed, there are a couple of new hairstyles in the salon. They all look pretty nice in my opinion, but some of them seem to layer strangely. Well, that's at least what I've noticed from browsing the forums.

And ... I fell in love with one of the new hairstyles, the bedhead one to be exact. I thought it looks really cute, so I went ahead and bought new hair. This is the first time I changed the hairstyle, altought I've changed my haircolour a couple of times.
It's a strange feeling to see my avatar with this hair, kind of like the feeling you have after getting a haircut IRL.
I'm really happy with the hair, though, I think it looks cool. What do you think?

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you! I hope everybody's having a good time.

Because I don't want to make a post just for these two sentences, let's talk about the Gaia Christmas event. Have you participated in it already? I have, as the items given out for caroling and distributing the two Santas' gifts are very nice.

What do you think of the items? Do you have any favourite ones already? I know I'm going to use that new spirited scarf often, it's very cute. whee The water meat creature you get from giving out the Zurg Santa's gifts is quite nice as well. I wouldn't have expected to get a plushie from the Christmas event, that's a nice surprise.

So, these month's collectibles are out. There is a Mini Ufo, which is a rather cute item with lots of nice poses, and a Momo the Monkey thing - it's your normal cute pet item deal, nothing too special, but still a nice item.

So, did anybody get one of the items already? Is anyobdy planning to get one? As you can see, I bought a Mini Ufo. Right now it is sitting on my head, but I plan on using many of its other poses as well. The baby alien one is quite cute in my opinion, especially because the admins listened to us and made it a pose of its own. Now you don't have to turn into a mothership in order to have a baby alien for your avatar.^^

As you can probably tell from the banner picture featuring Jack, Halloween is approaching. Today, we got a rather unexpected item update, as it has only been about three weeks from the latest item update.
We got a ton of interesting Halloween-ish items, such as eyeball and emote masks and elegant, but torn up clothes. There is also a raptor set which looks pretty cool, but is rather expensive for a Halloween costume. The Autumn Stripes set at Crate and Apparel is rather weird, I don't really think these clothes make for a good costume on their own. Might be interesting for more casual outfits, though. I can't wait for these things to be up on Tektek.^^

Now that I mention Tektek, I already planned two Halloween costumes for my avatar to wear. I want to live the Halloween spirit as much as I can both on Gaia and IRL, so I'll try only to make avatar that have to do with Halloween this month.^^

I also tried to make my profile a little more suited for this Halloween season, but so far I only made a couple of quick and dirty changes.^^


Let's see, what else might be of interest ... Ah, yes, we now have a small weekly comic stip which showed a bit out of the life of typical Gaians, but also a bit about the NPCs. I love the idea of a weekly comic strip showing a bit of both sides of Gaia - the plot, and the life as a community.


Edit: Have any of you other casino addicts wondered why it takes so long to fix our beloved casino games? Well, take a look at Lanzer's work journal. Seems like PayPal doesn't like the idea of casino games on Gaia. Lanzer said they are trying to talk to the people at PayPal and I sure hope they'll be successful in getting our games back.

Attention: This is a little rant, with a whiny undertone.^^; Don't read if you can't stand things like that, I guess ...


As you may or may not know, the admins introduced a "gold counter" which tells you how much gold you just got for polling, posting, lurking, etc. That idea is cute, if a bit useless.
BUT they seem to have changed more than just that. Now, posting gives a bit of gold (30g or so, I think) for the first post, but then the amount of gold decreases rapidly with each post. Polls are the same, so poll whoring is next to impossible. Which pretty much takes away my main source of income. I'm a poll whore and I am proud of that, as it is honest and quite exhausting work. So I'm hoping it's a glitch or will be changed, not being able to poll for gold anymore would be more than just annoying.

I don't know what I else I could do but poll, my art is terrible and I'm not that
good at mini games ... *sigh*
But then, I'm also a Gaian, so I'll just bite my teeth, participate in some GCD threads full of crazy theories about it and hope things will change for the better.

So, let's see what's happening on Gaia these days ...

This month's donation items are out. A Katana and a veil which turns into different parts of a wedding dress. Both are things that many Gaians asked for, yet some people are disapointed with them. Some even say the wedding veil is not fair because of the male Gaian population that does not want to wear female clothes, others say it's sexist. o.o
I on the other hand like both items, they're nice items that are not too special to be used in many different combinations with other items.
The avatar arena sees a ton of Kill Bill cosplays at the moment, mostly of the bride herself, although there are some Elle Driver cosplays, too.


Gaia got a new layout recently, too. A lot of people don't like it, especially the new banner doesn't seem to get much love because of the people up there. There is even a thread which offers a work around for Firefox, allowing users to display the old pink Gaian logo and a banner of their choice. Here is the link, in case anybody is interested in it.


The word bump game is new, too. It's an interesting game, giving us a bit of gold and University credits which we will be able to exchange for clothes at H.R. Wesley later. I'm enjoying the game a lot, although I'm not that good at it. Still, it's a lot of fun and can eat up a lot of time if you let it.^^
