Chapter 7
Chapter 7

Gosh that was the worst day I’ve had in my life. Flying vampires, and Connor acting like he likes me was most of it. I’m starting to hate this whole ‘werewolf saving the day’ thing. I need a new life. All of a suddenly my closet door starts opening again. My eyes went wide. “What the hell??????” I screamed. I ducked my head in between my knees then I heard laughter. I looked up and saw Connor laughing his eyes out.
I was furious! “YOU JERK! GET OUT!” I yelled throwing a pillow at him. “H-how am I a-a jerk?” he asked in between breaths. “Don’t scare me like that. You’ll be sorry when I’m gone the next time you do it.” I snapped. He just rolled his eyes. “Hey,” he began “Not my fault you’re a person who is easily scared.” I did the most childish thing I could possibly do. I stoke out my tongue at him.
Out of the silence he blurted out. “Would you like to go out with me?” I was so caught off guard it wasn’t funny. “You know….for safety purposes.” He added later. Safety purposes? What does he take me for an idiot? “Uhm….” I started. “Sure I guess. For safety reasons of course Connor.” He gave a little smirk. “I promise to take care of you Summer.” He said. “You better or you’ll be hearing from my lawyer.” I said. He shook his head in disbelief and started chuckling.
That day at school felt like a scene from “Twilight the Movie.” Connor picked me up from school in his Chevy Silverado and drove me to school. As soon as he arrived in the parking lot, and opened my door to walk to school. Just like Bella Swan I got stared at by almost all of the kids. Connor put an arm around me. When he crossed paths with his friends they started whistling and howling like a bunch of freakish animals.
Then I saw my friends. They stared at me like they just wanted to kill me. “Don’t mind them,” he said “They’re just a bunch of girls.” I stared at him. “And your not?” I asked. He chuckled and then we went to our homerooms.
Connor met me for lunch that same day. “Hey baby!” he practically yelled across the room. “I’m not your baby.” I snapped. “You are when you’re a werewolf.” He whispered in my ear sending goose bumps down my whole body. I rolled my eyes. The weather changed rapidly throughout the day. Sunny to cold and windy then to cold, windy, and rainy. That was the worst weather changed I’ve seen in all my years of living.
I couldn’t believe that Connor volunteered to drive me home in the strange weather. Lightning struck from each corner of the sky sending a bolt of light towards the sky. With one strike of its mighty bolt it would send electric shocks all through your body, and it’ll eventually kill you. I was terribly frightened of lighting, and when I was in the car all I was jittery. Here and there I got panicked with each thunder and lighting bolt I saw.
Connor looked at me strangely. “are you okay Sum?” he asked. “Huh? Oh…yeah I’m fine I’m just really terrified of lighting.” I said with a scratchy voice. My eyes moved swiftly across the sky for any bolts, but when I looked forward towards the road I saw a dark shadowy figure whose eyes flashed blood red. “CONNOR!” I screamed, “What is that???” He slammed his foot on the breaks when the truck wouldn’t stop close to the figure with just he’s own bare fist he punched the hood of Connors car leaving a dent in it.
This outraged Connor, but then he sniffed the air. His eyes turned blood red also. I stared wide-eyed as Connor got out of the car and slammed the door. “DON’T YOU DARE GET OUT OF THIS CAR!!!” he yelled. All I could do is nod; he was scaring the crap out of me. I reached for the side of the door handle and locked all the doors, when I turned back to the front of the car I saw Connor in werewolf form and fighting the beast.
My eyes started tearing up. “Connor,” I whispered, “be careful…” Every punch, every bite I wondered if Connor would be able to handle this. Suddenly I heard two big thumps on Connors roof. When I looked to the side I saw two more of those beasts, staring at me. I screamed so loud I think Connor heard me. “DON’T YOU TOUCH HER!” he yelled.
The other beasts looked towards Connor then to the one he was fighting. They nodded then started walking towards Connor. “CONNOR WATCH OUT!!” I yelled, but it was too late they were already all over him. The biting, scratching it was all too much. My heart started pumping faster and faster. I started to grow fangs, and claws. My instincts lead me out of the car and towards the fight. I had my arms hanging down at my side, my hands were like an open fist. My claws soon expanded, they were now at least six inches long on both hands, every finger. I lifted up my arm to one of the beasts. Then blackness surrounded me. That was all I remember.
I woke up in the hospital bed the next morning, or was it afternoon? I couldn’t remember. My arms ached; my legs had a beat of their own. “Oh Summer!” my mother cried, “I was so worried about you!” I smiled, but when my mom hugged me it turned into a frown. “Ouch!” I whispered. “Oh sorry honey.” My mom said. I chuckled. My mother was always such a worry bug. “The doctor said that you and Connor will be realised tomorrow.” My dad said. My eyes went wide. “Where is Connor?” I asked. “Right here Sum.” Connor said from the other side of the room.
I was so glad he was alive. “You boy,” my father began “You need to learn how to drive properly with my daughter in the car. You understand? Next time she’s hurt I’m filing a law suit on you.” Connor nodded. “Can I ask Summer something?” Connor asked. My mom looked at my dad, they nodded, and left the room. “What happened last night Connor?” I asked. “Your inner self transformed you into a werewolf, and you beat the living crap out of the guys too. You saved me Summer, and I’m really grateful.” He said. I smiled. “I guess I have a thing for you.” I said. He snorted. “Either that,” I added “or I just like being a super hero.” Connor chuckled. “Super hero? Maybe a weak puppy instead.” He said. “A weak puppy? Well this puppy can kick your hiney any day.” I said. Connor rolled his eyes. Once again I introduced him to my tongue.
Connor shook his head. “You are such a child.” He said. I shrugged. “At least I’m not a meanie butt.” I said. He just kept on shaking his head. “So what were those guys last night anyway?” I asked. Connor frowned and turned back to the hospital bed, and never said a word. I wonder what those guys were……
