Poets have a belief
it's simple and easily remembered
it can be a great realief
and can tame a wild heart forever
some say it can't be true
and others they don't see
but they should know it is the truth
and look a bit more carefully
this simple saying is a statement
to those who ask us why we write
We write because we like to
it's a way to show ourself
in ways people think not true
and so we can not fail
another thing that we say
is this could change the world
in possibly the smallest way
by showing people our words
they are stronger then most think
a world can change a life
it can make a heart fail to sink
and lift away some strife
so look deeper into a poem
and soon you will see
inside there lies a poets heart
inside there you will find me.
