New story: Living With Silence
Section: "...I watched Michael as he sat across the room on the small folding chair from my dining room. He stared at me with teary eyes. I knew something had to be said, but I wasn't sure what. Paul sat nest to me, his arms around me. I knew he wasn't too thrilled by the situation at hand either. Finally, Michael broke the silence. "You know you've really done it to me." Michael whispered. "I thought you'd be a little more caring since I'm your father, but I suppose you still hate me for everything else I screwed up in your life. I'm sorry." He stared at me some more, then got up and walked out the front door.
I stayed seated in the loveseat with Paul, still thinking about Michael's last words to me. Yes, I did hate him for all those stupid things he had done to me and my mom, and yes, he probably was "sorry" again. The thing was, I had been trying to get him to tell me he was sorry all along. This revenge was supposed to fulfill me, but it only made me feel worse. Why did things always seem to never go right?..."
