The World Can Wait:
Start With the Precious Little Ones
How it should start
With caring eyes
A warm smile
A loving heart
Two gentle hands
Holding up a child
That has been touched
By the one with the smile
By the one with the heart
By the magic of love
How it does start
I can make a difference by
Ending world hunger
I can make a difference by
Finding a cure for every cancer
I can make a difference by
Giving every child a home
I can make a difference by
Getting rid of poverty
I can make a difference by
Ending all the wars
I can make a difference by
Making the whole world happy and peaceful
Why
Why does it take so much drama
Just to make one news - worthy
To get attention from the media
Why don’t we ever hear about the small things
A teacher helping her student with math
A child sharing lunch with a friend who has none
A mother teaching her baby how to walk
A teenager playing softball with small children
A magician performing at a children’s hospital
A friend comforting some who has lost a family member
A librarian spreading the love of reading to others
I can make a difference by
Ending world hunger
I can make a difference by
Finding a cure for every cancer
I can make a difference by
Giving every child a home
I can make a difference by
Getting rid of poverty
I can make a difference by
Ending all the wars
I can make a difference by
Making the whole world happy and peaceful
I can make a difference by
Doing all these things
But that’s not all it takes
Smaller things are often more meaningful
One single person trying their hardest
Doing their best, never giving up
They don’t need to help the whole world
Touching the heart of one child is enough
The bright smiling face
So full of innocent admiration
Hands clasped together in thanks
Or wrapped around the waist in love
Jus two little words to express gratitude
And suddenly, everything that was done
Would be done over and over again
Just to see that smile once more
To impact the life of a child
Is not an easy task
But is the most important thing
One can do in this world
That child will grow up
They will do much and meet many
During their life in this world
But that impact will remain
The person they will always love
The moment that is never forgotten
The lesson that is forever learned
The bond that will last all eternity
Touching the heart of a child
Effecting their life so early on
Helping them hope for a bright future
Much more important than saving the world
Because the world will soon forget
But that child never will
How it will end
