Why Bother Trying?
Beause.
If you don't, how can you achieve anything?
I tried and for my troubles I got sickness and ridicule. I pushed through and succeeded, against everyone's beliefs. I finished 24 1/2hrs work in three days yesterday and it took me 6 1/2years to be able to do even the first 8 hours of that.
Why bother trying?
Because you don't know how you can be blessed by your trying and how you can bless others.
Trust me.
When returning to Canberra last Monday, after taking time out of my now fairly busy life to go and see a friend for her birthday, I met a German student on holidays in Australia. We got chatting and I found out that he'd gone to Hillsong in Sydney and was going to Canberra to have a look at the embassies and the designs of the buildings there. He didn't have a clue what to do or where to go, so I spent an extra 2 hours escorting him around and showing him Civic, Canberra's city centre.
For my troubles of trying to be nice to a COMPLETE stranger, I was rewarded with an invitation to play pool on Wednesday night and a feeling that I've made a difference in even one life.
Now, the invitation was hard for me to accept, for this week was my second week on the job and Wednesday was the second of three early and long days at work and I wanted to get to bed early that night.
Instead, after going shopping and doing things I needed to after work, I found myself in Civic, taking up an invitation to play pool. Now, I SUCK at pool and managed to loose every one of the five games, but I found that my time was worth it after all.
I went home late at night, my feet hurting and my eyes drooping and fell asleep almost immediately.
My reward for this? Waking refreshed and ready to go on with life, with a sense that, even after an hour spent chatting and playing pool with a stranger, I'd done SOMETHING.
Why bother trying?
Because you may be entertaining angels unawares.
Because you might not feel like it, but you agreed.
Because you damn well can.
Why do I bother trying?
To prove to myself and others that I am completely healed from CFS and that miracles happen every day.
You just need to be at the right spot in space and time to BE the miracle.
Why bother trying?
Simple.
So you can praise God.
