Falling in love
Is like
Playing a game of Chess

Every part of playing love matters

The pawn;
A roadblock,
annoying bits of info flecked across the board,
To get in the way of love, to be worked around, dealt with, and overcome.
The castle;
A stronghold,
straightforward requirements,
To be treated with respect and concern.
The bishop;
A surprise,
those little qualities that sneak up on you,
To be searched for, and welcomed with guarded arms as they come.
The knight;
A limit,
Order amongst the fight for dominance
Honored for strength, and usefulness, but often overlooked and easily avoided.
The crowns;
A necessity,
the immediate, required attention.
To be addressed with caution and targeted vigor.

It takes patience to play at love

Patience to think;
To take in coordinates, strengths, weaknesses, habits, and gaps.
Not only of loves opposes,
But love itself as well.
Patience to plan;
To chart strategies, interests, and intentions,
To hide your own,
Until the perfect time to make your move.
Patience to wait;
To give love a chance to recuperate, rethink, and reply.

Playing love can put you on the spot.

The spot,
Where action takes climax.
Where risks are needed, where a flying leap might save the day,
Or ruin it.

The way a game of love ends is all up to you,

Down to the revolting checkmate.
But are you playing love,
Or is love playing you?
