The Book of Harley
Healers
In humans, as well as other magical creatures, healing is a genetic trait. Even so, it is exceedingly rare for the trait to be passed down to multiple children unless it is a trait carried by both parents and both of their parents and so on.

It is known that because of the genetic odds of one being a healer, that the population of living wizards with healing abilities has died down greatly over the years. Fortunately for healers, this makes it rather easy for them to get employed as such by various places.

A healer must have the ability to control their elements in a healing manner, most notably water type auras are healers. It's highly improbable for one to be a healer without it but not impossible. Water is the best element for healing since water type aura wizards can easily manipulate the water in the body to stimulate healing energy. Wood type aura can be used to make medicines, antidotes, as well as poisons, and if skilled enough they can manipulate inhaled particles such as pollens to help heal an illness or injury by triggering white blood cells. The other aura types can be used for these practices but are generally backed up by one of the more healing type auras. For example, fire spells can be used to cauterize, earth spells can be used to draw out toxins with muds, and even air can be used to help respiratory illnesses.

Elves, fairies, leprechauns, angels, and a few other beings also have healing properties that differ from human abilities. For instance, leprechauns have been said to be able to heal afflictions such as a hang over. Even still, these abilities are still genetic in all beings. Just because one is part elven for example, they may not be able to heal others unless the gene was inherited and their auras are right for healing.

Levels of natural healing abilities vary by person, just as all other magic does. It has been observed that healers tend to not be as great at casting fighting magic or it at least takes more out of them being as it conflicts with the healing abilities inside their auras. Wizards with strong healing abilities cannot ever be the greatest wizards because of this. Their inner magics merely conflict too much with the unbalance of their magical abilities. The weaker the healer the better the fighter, this means that one with barely any healing abilities, may possibly be a better fighter.
