This is a story I wrote. Hope you like. (PLease don't steal it) sweatdrop
Traveling love
“BOOM! BOOM!” Goes the sound of the grenades exploding to the right of him. The thousand grains of dirt scatter across the ground. “Move it, move it!” Sergeant Hawk screams to the group of soldiers running towards the enemy in a feeble attempt in bombarding them in a furious attack of hot lead. He ducks and weaves to avoid getting shot. He jumps to the side, missing a bullet whizzing right past his head. He is almost close enough to shoot the enemy with a quick shot to the head. He aims. He puts his finger on the trigger, almost has it pulled all the way back when a voice snaps him back to reality. He pulls his mind out of his memories of the war. He hears the voice again. Soft and sweet but near the verge of being exhausted. He snaps back to the present. He looks up to see a beautiful, young woman staring back at him with gorgeous brown eyes and jet, black hair. “Well, like I said the first time, what would you like to order?” she asked. Looking at him with most interest. Studying him really, perhaps looking at the uniform he wore. ‘Strait from the core’ her ma would say. He carried a large army green duffel bag with him, and had a haircut that only military men would have back then. He wasn’t a bad looking boy she thought. “He must have a girlfriend”, she mumbled quietly. “What was that?” he asked her politely. “Oh nothing, just wondering what it was that you wanted to eat, sir.” She replied quickly. She started blushing at the thought that he had heard what she said. She pulls out her writing pad and gestures to him to tell her what he wants. He notices this and looks at his menu and tells her what he wants. She takes his order and picks up his menu and heads to the kitchen to give the cook the order. He stares out the window and starts thinking of the girl. “She is so pretty” he says. “She must have a boyfriend” The waitress comes out with the food a few minutes later and sets it down in front of him. “Anything else sir?” she asks. “No, I’m fine, thank you anyways. Just one thing, I’m new here and well, would you mind sitting down for a while and talking to me? I haven’t talked privately with someone since a while back. Before I got sent off, actually” he replied. “Well” she said quizzically, “I guess I could, since it seems that you are a nice boy and all. One thing though, what’s your name stranger?” “Damion, my name is Damion.” He answered. “And yours?” “Emily” she replied “Emily Grey. I would love to sit with you, but I have to work for another couple of hours. But I have an idea of where to go. It’s my favorite place in the world. I’ll meet you there tomorrow” They agreed to meet at the pier the next afternoon after Emily got off from work. When they got there they just sat on the pier talking with their feet dangling off the side and touching the cool dark water below. The sun was just setting and it cast a beautiful glow of magnificent purples, yellows, pinks, reds, and orange across the sky. The view from the pier that day was the most magnificent sight in the world. Sitting there next to Emily gave Damion enough courage to ask her the question he had thought about asking her. “Emily” he said nervously, “I know you probably have a boyfriend and all but I don’t care. I have no one to send a letter to. I don’t have any family and not many close friends that aren’t in the war with me. I guess what I’m trying to say is, would you mind if I sent a letter back here to you? If not that’s okay but I was just asking because I’m leaving in the next month and…” She cut him off. “Yes. That’s fine, I don’t have a boyfriend. In the past two days I’ve known you, you seem so nice, sweet, and not like any guy I’ve ever met. Of course you can send me a letter.” she replied sweetly. She then grabbed his hand and stared into his eyes. He leaned in for a kiss. She leaned in too. She closed her eyes as their lips met. “Please don’t leave.” she whispered as she drew back from his warm embrace. ”I won’t.” he whispered back. He hugged her, he felt sorry for her, for he knew he could not keep his promise to stay. The next day passed and the day after that and the young couple grew more and more in love. It had already been three weeks and the day Emily had been dreading was almost here, the day Damion would leave. They were to go to the diner the day before he was to leave because that was the place where they first met. Emily was so excited that she called her friend Nancy Pedigo to help her plan what to wear. “Oh Nancy I’m so excited about tonight. Do you think he might tell me tonight he is going to stay? Oh, I hope so! So Nancy, what do you think?” Emily squealed in delight. Emily danced about her room looking for the perfect thing to wear. She waited for Nancy to reply. “I think you shouldn’t get your hopes up too high Emily. You know how Damion loves the military. But on the Brightside, he will be sending you lots of letters. And, he’ll be telling all his buddies about his lovely girlfriend, Emily Grey.” Nancy said excitedly. “Well we will just have to wait till tonight, Shall we? Well I have to get ready so goodbye Nancy. I’ll tell you all the details tomorrow.” Emily said and hung up the phone. She glanced at the clock, it was 7:40. Damion had said he was to be there at 8:00 sharp. Emily rushed to get ready on time. At exactly 8:00, Damion rang the bell on Emily’s house and waited for her to answer. She answered the door and there stood Damion. He looked so handsome that night. They left the house in a hurry to get to the diner on time. When they arrived they sat down at the same table they had met each other at. After a romantic meal and a wonderful dessert, Damion stopped smiling and looked at Emily with the most serious of faces. She had guessed this moment would come sooner or later. The moment Damion would tell her he was leaving to go back and fight in the war. She had to bite her lip to keep from crying. “Emily, I have something to tell you,” he started out, “I know you didn’t want me to leave but they called me in for service starting immediately. And I just wanted you to know this is our last night together. I’m sorry but I have to do this Emily. I will always be thinking of you and I’ll write you a letter every chance I get, I promise. Please don’t be mad at me. I have to do this. I love you Emily, just remember that” “I know you do Damion, and I love you too. And I just hope that you adleast keep that promise for me. I will see you tomorrow, I love you. Remember that.” Emily replied sharply. Emily went home that night and cried. She cried for herself. Especially, for her traveling love. The next day she took Damion to the airport and kissed him goodbye. Little knowing it would be her last kiss. As the plane took off and all the other people left, she stood there with tears rolling down her face as the shape of the plane disappeared into the clouds. As he had promised her, Damion sent millions of letters to Emily. Most of them were about his heart and how he felt about her. How it might be love, while others were about all of the things he was so scared of. He said that when it gets hard and scary over there he just thinks of the first date they had on the pier and just closes his eyes and still sees her sitting there with that beautiful smile of hers, giggling and laughing. He sends her these letters for almost two months, when finally he writes a letter telling her he is going into battle in a few days but not to be worried if he doesn’t write for a while. He tells her he misses her dearly and that he loves her more than life itself. He says he’ll be back in a couple of weeks. Emily reads these letters then brakes down crying. She loves him so much and replies to his letters every time he sends one. She tells him of how she misses him and how much she loves him. They go on like this until one day the letters stop coming. Emily wondered what was happening with Damion and wrote often to his best friend Christopher Cade. Chris just avoided the question and just said everything was fine and that Damion would be home soon. She knew something was wrong. One day she called Sergeant J. Hawk to ask what had happened to Damion. As soon as he told her she sobbed over the phone after hearing the terrible news. He said that Damion had died honorably in the line of duty. He was shot in the heart from an enemy ambush. He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the nursing station. He was to be sent back home for burial. She couldn’t stand it. She hung up with the Sergeant and fell to the floor sobbing uncontrollably. How could this happen to him? He was a week away from coming home, and he was killed. Her soldier had died in action protecting his country. She was proud yet crushed, sad yet happy. He was gone and she thought there was nothing left. Many years past until she met her next love. A young Doctor named Victor Bell who helped wounded soldiers. I bet you know why she picked him. They Fell in love and soon started a family. When they had their first child, after having Victor’s approval, they named him Damion Bleu Bell. After the fallen soldier that Emily would never hold again.
The End
