LOOK INTO THE MIND OF SOMEONE WHO THINKS TOO MUCH~

You know, I've been thinking about the age/era differences between Bella and Edward (from Twilight) lately, and you know what I've realized? I've realized that if they behaved the way the should have based on what era they're from, they would never have gotten together.

I mean, Edward may have been from a time where women were getting their 'rights', but let's face it, people were still pretty sexist back then. Women were still expected to make babies, nice homes for those babies, and meals for their husbands when they got home. Sure, they could vote and whatnot; but unless they were unmarried, they didn't have a job or the independence to became a doctor or lawyer or anything like that.

Bella would pretty much be the exact opposite of these views. She grew up, like all the rest in our generation, knowing that she could be whatever the heck she wanted to be; a tattoo artist, a teacher, a sculptor, the doctor that will cure cancer! Sure, some jobs would probably still pay her less because she's a women, but by golly she wouldn't be rejected from a college for it or denied a job. Furthermore, men these days know that if they try to coerce their ladies to stay home (in a non-abusive way) instead of work and they don't like that idea, chances are they'd either be left in the dust or something.

It isn't like women these days to just go along with whatever their spouse wants; even if they love them, sooner or later, their just like 'screw this' and throw them to the curb. The only real exception to this are women who are abused by their spouses, and while it can certainly be argued that Edward has some major issues with dealing out emotional abuse (come on! Leaving after promising not to? Really?), we see throughout the series that Bella does have a backbone and can put her foot down on things. So why the heck does she just act like a Betty Crawford trophy wife half the time? It's completely unrealistic.

Personally, I think it would make more sense for her to dump Edward the moment he starts dictating who she gets to hang out with; especially if it's right after he disappears for month on end. Seriously, the characters were okay up until that point. Then it all goes south. Plots okay though.
