This is an Italian style sonnet that I wrote for one of my poetry classes. It coincides with the main character of the novel I am working on...

The troubadour’s song had come to a close.
His lyricism so strangely abstract,
didn’t give the patrons time to react.
Its story was long, but not so verbose.
The song had painted a world of its own.
A world that they wished, would someday come back;
couldn’t distinguish fairytale from fact.
With roaring cheer, the troubadour arose.

Two drunken soldiers with blades in their boots,
threw a barmaid to the dirt laden ground.
He had to teach these Belligerent brutes.
So calmly placed down his mystical lute;
the bard dropped both men with no single sound.
With cheer, took the hand of his future muse.
