Crash's thoughts/ramblings
Gaia's mods suck. They really do. I just read a thread about how somebody was conducting a multi item trade and PMed a mod to scan over the trade before it was accepted to make sure he wasn't going to recieve a hacked item or fall prey to a scam. The mod told him they don't do anything until after the scam has happened. Yeah, that's helpful. A user in a guild I frequent quoted the thread and said that if you don't complete suspicous trades, you won't get banned for possessing hacked/botted items. I got mad and wrote a lot. I don't feel I'm done venting it yet.

I don't think that's true, because most of the people who get banned for it aren't aware of it until after their banning. Sure, there are some idiots who bot and hack, and trade for things they KNOW they shouldn't. But, there are a lot of falsely accused and punished people who do nothing wrong.

The problem with Gaia is and always has been the user to mod ratio and the activity of mods. I would gladly volunteer my time to help keep Gaia cleaner and safer for everybody. But, instead they hire/promote (not sure if they get paid gold, that might be a rumor) people who take the title of moderator and then show up once in a blue moon.

If you look around, most of the veteran and richer Gaians spend all their time in guilds surrounded by the same type of people. I know I don't leave TVG unless I'm in one or two other guilds, the Exchange, or the Vend. And even with going to that few places, there is a massive amount of spam and scamming taking place in front of me. I can only imagine what people who frequent more public places see.

I used to belong to a community called Artix Entertainment. If you want to check it out, the website is battleon.com and the forums are linked on the bottom of the page. Those forums are lucky to see a few thousand users per day, and yet they crush Gaia in user to mod ratio and mod activity. They may be close to the overall amount of Gaian mods too.

The mods are the problem and Gaians are the solution. Scrap the staff and start over with a crew of those willing to work for nothing other then the knowledge that they keep Gaia safe. If they don't meet a certain amount of weekly hours, then get rid of them. Mods are no use if they are going to be inactive 90% of the time they are needed and do nothing for the other 10%.

The funny thing is, the mods KNOW they suck. They have to. I was reading through a mods post on the thread, and he never said "We're hiring more people" or "we're working to get rid of scammers." He said, and I quote, "If you were to be scammed, you would still be directed to the scam report form." That's Noraboo, an admin. He said earlier a mod could be told when you were trading and when you were done. So basically, a mod could sit and watch you be scammed, then the action they take to help you is give you a link to a scam report. Yeah, that's helpful. I'll get my items back in two years. ********. Gaia doesn't care about it's users and they've made that blatantly obvious. So, if you do get scammed, I suggest donating in excess of one thousand dollars. Maybe then they'll help you out a little....
