Element Of Fire
When Jack was born, the doctors told his mother he was a normal healthy baby. He was healthy alright, but his mother soon realized that there was nothing normal about him. When Jack was 6 months old, his mother went to answer a phone call and left him in his highchair. She returned and the entire kitchen was ablaze, but Jack was left unscathed. Once the fire department determined the cause of the fire was not an accident and originated from the highchair, his mother never looked at him the same again. As Jack became older his abilities became more apparent to his mother. She soon discovered that her child could create and manipulate fire. She feared this ability of his, and watched him like a hawk from that day forward. One night a fire with a tremendous force engulfed the entire house. By the time anyone arrived there was no fire left to fight, just a pile of ashes and cinders. Upon searching the remains of the house, the young Jack was found, soundly asleep amongst the ashes, miraculously untouched by the flames.
Jack, only 8 years old, was moved into an orphanage, but as people learned about how his mother died, they began to torment him. They called him a murderer, saying that he started the fire and killed his mother. Tired of being picked on he ran away, not knowing where he was going, and not caring if he got there. He just knew that he had to leave, as he wandered around that night, through the woods in a nearby park, shivering from the cold, he forced himself to do what he swore to never again do. He gathered some nearby sticks and branches, threw them into a pile, and started a fire, a fire that would change his life.
Hiding behind a bush, Gwee, a wandering baby dragon, watched in awe, amazed by Jack's ability. Never before had he heard of a human being able to create fire without using tools, a skill only mastered by dragons. Slowly he crept into Jack's view hoping to introduce himself, but fearing him at the same time. As Jack caught sight of him he immediately froze with fear. As Gwee began talking, Jack could tell that his life was not in danger and began to slowly lose his fear. They both then sat by the fire, talking for what seemed to be hours. As daybreak neared Gwee told Jack that he needed to go home, and asked Jack if he wanted to come with him. Having no other place to go, Jack agreed, and began following Gwee, following him into the land of the dragons.
Amazed at the beauty of this "New World", he immediately told himself that this is where he belonged. The duo quickly met up with Gwee's mother and, upon hearing his tragic story, she agreed to allow Jack to live there for as long as he needed. He started learning from the other dragons, he learned how to better control his power. As his skill grew his body began changing, a pair of wings, made of pure fire, began to form from his back, and his hair started to become just like the fire that he could control. After his wings and new hair finished forming, he felt more at peace within the dragon's world, he saw himself as no longer human, but still felt ashamed and weak. He yearned to lose what was left of his human body, or at least hide it. Gwee had the answer to Jack's problem. During a previous trip to the "Human World" he was seen by someone, the person immediately ran away leaving a bag of clothing, which he took home and hid. When Gwee showed them to Jack, he was happier than he had ever been, they were exactly what he was looking for, they were apparently bought as a Halloween costume, just what he needed to hide his frail human body. He was no longer a human with mystical powers, he was now Jack, The Fire Elementalist. As the years passed, and his skill continued to grow, he became part of the dragons life, and part of the dragons world. Now, considered a master, with nothing left to learn, he awaits the next step in the journey of his life...
