The different versions of Ubuntu are:
1. Ubuntu: original (other versions based off this 1)
2. Kubuntu: uses KDE graphical environment instead of GNOME
3. Xubuntu: uses Xfce desktop environment that has fewer system resources (often used on older computers)
4. Edubuntu: designed for use in classrooms and schools
5. Gobuntu: provides a distribution consisting entirely of free software (no longer used because ubuntu now has option to do this normally)
6. Ubuntu Studio: made for multimedia production
(im trying to decide what Linux version to instal...so this is mainly notes for me...plz PM me if you have any suggestions...)
