Based on a Dream- 8/8/o9
-Know that the characters do not have names. I heard none in my dreams, I only saw descriptions and peoples. So, Understand that there will be a lot of HE and SHE in the writing you're about to read.-
Footsteps echoed down the long, dark alleyway. Panting breath came in pursuit as the footsteps broke into a sprint once more. The figure shrouded in dark was feminine, with boy-cut hair. She wore a long slouchy coat with a long, white tee-shirt underneath. She wore black baggy jeans, and black and white sneakers. She was running from something. No, She was running from someone. She glanced back to the lit part of the alley, her face pale and her eyes a gleaming gold. Clouds of her breath puffed into the air as she turned around and looked forward. Dead End. She braced herself against the bricks of the building, and let out a piercing scream as another shadow covered her. A flash of light and the setting changes; We're in a garden, with yellow daffodils and roses abound. A woman with brown hair that cuts off around her shoulders is there with a man who has black hair, slicked back, and blue eyes. She's giggling about something he's said while looking at a flower, not knowing how his eyes are raking over her body. They stand in front of a building with a small double door opening; it is an arched door, with two round knockers, and black iron hinges that are rusted. This is the last time we see this woman alive. Shadow covers this scene and we move to another setting. It is dark, dank. Somewhere in the distance there is the solid drip, drop, drip, drop Of water, and the stench of filth and mud is abundant. Blood splatters across the cobblestones that cover the floor followed by another scream. It seems we're inside the building's underground, or basement of some sort. There are chains lining the walls, people screaming, and the darkness is lit by torches in every room. The odor of blood and rotting flesh masks the place, sealing its feel of impending doom with a light kiss. The vision pans to the shadows on the wall, one of a manly figure, holding a saw. It rears up, as he cuts into the figure of a woman chained to a stone tablet. Blood splatters again, this time all over the walls and floor; more screams and the hellish torture chamber fades into a new vision. The girl from the alleyway before is now at her own home, reading the paper. She holds a glass of orange juice, and hums aloud while reading. She comes across a photo of a woman, the same woman we saw in the garden, and runs her fingers over the large printed letters that state "MISSING". She turns her head from the paper to look out the window. Closing her eyes a moment brings a vision of the same large stone building we saw once before shrouded in darkness. She watches as the girl struggles with the man, and as he pushes her down and pulls her into the building by her hair and arms. The woman cries, screams for help, but no one can. The short haired girl cries, and runs to her room, the scene fades, and another one comes into view. The short haired girl is looking out her window, the shades pulled all the way up. It is night, and she hears whispers coming from out side of her door. Getting up and walking to the door, she sees a specter with marred features and blood running down her face staring at her, whispering words that make no sense. "What do you want?" She asks the specter, noticing that the ghost has no eyes and where eyes used to be, there is now bloody gouged out spaces. The specter vanishes, and screams. The girl shrieks, and puts her hands over her ears. "Show yourself to me!" She screams, and the darkness around her consumes her. A man laughs in the distance, a girl screams, the rattling of chains. The short haired girl opens her eyes to find herself staring out her window once more. A spotlight flickers on, and peers down on the sight in the garden. There is blood everywhere, the doors to that building are open, and a red light emits from within its archway. A scream is heard, shadows in the forms of a man and woman seem to dance along the cobblestones. "What do you want from me!" The short haired girl screams. She covers her eyes, again screaming, "Show yourself to me!" When she drops her hands, the specter she'd seen comes racing at her, this time menacing, evil, with claws for hands, blood dripping from her body. The girl ducks, and the specter disappears. The girl flees from the home, and runs to the inn that looks like the building in the visions. She runs into the woman who runs the inn, and grabs her by the collar. "Who has been the resident here the longest! Have you seen a girl here? Did she look like this girl?" She shouted in the elderly woman's face, while pulling out the newsprint photo of the girl. The woman shakes her head; her memory is lost so she has no recollection of the girl. Swearing, the girl runs up the set of stairs, and runs into a room, climbing up the ladder on a twin sized bunk bed, and shakes the boy beneath the covers. "Have you seen this girl?" She shouts, shaking him still. He looks bewildered, so she slows down, and asks him how long he's been at the inn. He shakes his head, uttering no words, and she runs from the building. The scene fades, and we come upon the garden again. This time, the girl is there with someone she knows; a friend or her boyfriend perhaps. She looks at him, motioning to the door. "That's where she is." The boy shakes his head. "That place could fall down any minute; I'm not going in there." He says in response. "This is crazy." The girl looks to the door, grabs the boy's hand. "I'll be with you. Come on. I need to find her." She said, her golden eyes turning up to his face. His emerald eyes reflect worry, and foresee danger. But nevertheless, they walk to the door and try to open it. When they find they can't, the girl runs back to the gate of the garden with the boy, and they both charge the door. When they collide with the rotting wood it splinters, and dust flies everywhere. They land just inside the doorway, and spot a figure in a chair. The girl walks to the chair, seeing the hair of the girl in the photo, the same hair of the specter, and grabs her shoulder. Her fingers sink into rotting flesh, purple-ish blood covers her hand as she jerks away from the rotting girl. The skull lolls backwards, and falls off onto the floor. Maggots, flies, ants crawl on the body and worms find their way in and out of gouged out eye sockets. The girl screams, cowers into the boy's arms, and sobs into his chest.
They stand there for a moment, as the sounds of police sirens fill the air, and male shouts are heard. The short-haired girl found not only the woman; the specter she'd seen, but also found the torture chamber of a serial killer.
