These horrid filthy scoundrels broke everything in our house. They killed all of the men who stood up against them. I'm sure they did all manner of unspeakable things. I can hardly bare to think that Father's last moments on this earth were at the hands of those ruffians. They didn't even let him say "Goodbye". Heathens! They set our house on fire (cries). Shortly thereafter they broke through the door of the pump house. Mother fainted dead away. They left her there for dead (cries harder). I know I shall never see her again. Lizzie they took kicking and screaming in a separate boat. I've no idea if she is alright.
I'm so frightened, yet so angry. I would gladly kill them myself if only I possessed the knowledge and skill to do the deed. They're horrible creatures. 'They smell awful. They've no manners at all. They kill almost anything in sight. It scares me to think how long that will give my sweet Lizzie and I when we finally meet with their captain, a man named William Donner. The pirate ship, our prison, looms large in front of us. It's a massive wooden monster with canvas sails and cannons at every turn. So this is where I'm to die. I can think of friendlier places that I could wish for my life to end in than this monstrosity. We're not on board and already I feel the dread growing within.
