The wonderful community that is Gaia!
I am fairly new to Gaia. I am addicted to the site and enjoy customizing everything imaginable. I don't enjoy the fact that a lot of the members are adolescent. I was recently on a forum posting spree and encountered many a different character. Many of whom had strong opinions also. The topics were political which is always going to generate a lot of controversy and debating.

My views on the '08' presidential race

I am a strong Democrat and always will be. I am an Obama supporter all the way. I know enough about his policies and his views to understand that he is a much better candidate than McCain due in part to the drastic decline in our economy. McCain is an avid supporter of Bush. In the year 2000, gas prices maxed out at $1.46 per gallon!!! That now has managed to triple+ because of the oil industries big wigs connection with the congressional office and commander in chief. We don't need another president who is going to accept foreign oil and not drill in American soil. We don't need another president who is going to allow the rich to get richer and the poor to get poorer. Obama, while he may not be the best presidential candidate, is our only means out of this steady decline our economy has been taking. He is a patch of sun in the clouded skies of the hurricane. His aim is to help those who need it. Not just those who already have it. By that I mean, over Bushes candidacy, he has aimed to benefit those who are already well off. Tax breaks for the rich, the big oil companies, and those who sip their businesses over seas. While those who were middle class are now lower class and those who were lower class stayed where they were and dealt with the fact that it wasn't going to get any better. My father has been working for the Sheet Metal Workers Union for 25 years of his life. Never was he laid off until 2001 when Bushes candidacy first started. Since then ours and many others quality of life has decreased.

As I post on the forums, I find that there is an alarming number of racist people on Gaia. This took me be surprise. These are blatantly ignorant people who have been raised in the worst possible way. Everyone is entitled to their views but in this day and age to be racist is just ridiculous. This presidential race is not about race. its about what needs to be done to fix what Bush has done. What we don't need is another republican office.

I personally hope that America will make the right decision and vote Obama Biden 08.
