It's a very sad week for me, extremely sad.
My kitty, Midnight, only nine years of age, was killed, bashed in the head. We just buried her today. It was horrible. The whole thing didn't set in until I actually saw her body in the shoe box we put her in. I couldn't stop crying, and I helped dig the hole that we put her in. I watched as my aunt and uncle packed the dirt on to her still body, unmoving, never to purr like a motor, or bask in the sun, or even steal the food off the table. She's gone, for good, and all because of someone's hate for a beautiful animal.
In the end I had to help with the burying myself. That had to be the worst part, to know that I contributed to her burial. It was so hard seeing her go. I never even got the chance to pet her or anything before she was killed. Life's not fair. She had so much life in her. For an old gal, she was extremely spunky. She always liked to chase her tail and laser pointers, and the strings off of shoelaces and our sweaters. She was a cuddle bug, always wanting to be petted and loved. And she was always there for us when we weren't feeling well or if we were sad. She was our mediator, our sunshine when we were down. And yet, our sunshine as fallen, and I feel like never ending shadows have encroached on to our home.
Midnight will be sorely missed, but she exist in all of our memories, no matter how long it will be. She gets to chase birds and mice, laze about, and do what she wants now in Heaven, and that's the only thing that matters at this moment.
