5 1/2 Minute Hallway I am an introvert that values knowledge, humor and the confidence of a unique soul. I prefer to have a few, close friends, than to have a bunch of groupies that are essentially strangers. I have little tolerance for sub-standard work, both from other

Cut me some slack on the writing quality, it's nearly 4 am
I'm so tired. It's so late. But I want to get all this down before I forget the details or lose the motivation. This has been a banner week for Operation Get a Life You Creepy Bum (OGLYCB), a project I've been working on for some time now, but it was only this week that I really seemed to get into gear. Strange.

Let's see. I joined the SIGGRAPH club, as I mentioned before. I met some new people and bonded with some people I already knew.

I went to go see Constantine with Lauren, a girl from some of my classes. I made a plan and then I socialized. Go me.

Then, for a class project, I signed on to design a webpage for the Gardy Loo. This wasn't really a part of OGLYCB, since I was forced to do this for a class, but you've got to admire the symmetry at play here. I'm already designing their physical magazine. Designing their website is a perfect extension, and I'm getting class credit for it. Kick a**. This also got me out of the apartment when I met with Heather, the new editor in chief, to develop a site map. We only met at the Starbucks at Barnes and Nobel, but it was lunch out, which for me is a amazingly rare treat.

After Heather made her escape, I paroozed the store while I finished my tea and looked at all the books I'd love to own but don't have the time to read. *coughAmericanStudiescough* Then, in a weird stroke of luck, I ran into Dave, a guy from my Screenwriting class.

Let me tell you a little something about Dave. We're in this stage in Screenwriting where everyone's got part of their first draft done, and we're reading the scripts out loud in class. Some are decent, first-draft material. Some feel like God hates me, and in punishing me in the form of bad writing. Dave's, on the other hand, was damn good. It read like a professional script. I was rivited from the first page.

Anyway, Barnes and Noble. He was on his way to work, but we chatted for a few minutes about the class and writing and general, and the next thing I knew, I was invited to go see the Neverending Story at a theatre in Stanton with a couple of Dave's friends. Considering I must have spent 30% of my childhood watching that movie, this wasn't a hard decision. Interestingly enough, Story was every bit as cool watching it as an adult and we got to see it in the coolest movie theatre I've ever been in. It was an original, honest-to-Joss 50's movie theatre. Four screens, total. They even had all the original 50's light fixtures.

Still, the most entertaining aspect of the evening was watching Dave and his roomate, Jared, speaking in almost nothing but movie quotes. These people inhale cinema like others breathe air. They're like something Kevin Smith would write into one of his films. The other person with us, Rachael, was nice enough, but just not as lively as the boys.

Anyway, Jared and I engaged in a lengthy discussion on Harry Potter over Mexican food (two resturant meals in one day!) while the others watched us in fear and awe. Nice to know I could out-geek Dave in some respects. After all that, we came back to Harrisonburg and played a game of Risk on PS2, where Dave proceeded crush Jared and I like the unworthy opponets we were. Ok, he crushed me. To be fair, bad luck played a part in Jared's demise, but in any case, Jared didn't take defeat well. Although, you've got to consider these are people with two computer versions and three board versions of Risk. To hear them go on about it, you'd think it really was a matter of life and death.

All in all, a very interesting and unexpected day. An interesting and unexpected week, even. Lav's back, I saw two movies, ate out twice, and made three friends. Life is good.

I found this great flash game on the net today that let's you design a Gaia avatar with pretty much any item you want, so long as your avatar's female. It's missing a few items and the hats don't look quite right, but it's otherwise a cool-a** game.

Am I the only one a little disturbed that wings grow out of the head and not the back in the Gaian universe?

Bling bling.

Pilots are sexy. If Nathan Fillion's ever in a movie where he plays a pilot, I will likely spend the rest of my life in my bunk.

Ok, they've got the top, the pants, and the shoes. Where the crap is the cool biker helmet? This outfit's probably going to make a big comeback once the battle system goes into effect. Ugg.

Tell me honestly. Do Alexandre Dumas novels make my a** look fat?

Not bad. It'd look better with an iPod.

Random Rant While Killing Time
There are two Trogdor games on Homestar Runner dot com. On one you play Trogdor and on the other you play a peasant trying to smite Trodgor. It is wholly unfair that Trodgor is only invincible when you're NOT playing him. Those pansy a** knights don't even have the official Trog helmet, shield and sword, not to mention you can only burninate SOME of the time. What the crap?

In conclusion, Peasant's Quest is a better game.
