Warning! This journal post has nothing to do with Gaia xp
Spring time is here. I spent a whole day last week organizing paperwork and doing my taxes. This year the IRS decided that for tax purposes I'm no longer a non resident alien, and I should pay taxes as if I was a resident. Turns out it's better for me, since I get to be economically stimulated - w00t!. Anyway, one more year of taxation without representation gonk .
I gave blood today. The guy at the bloodmobile was impressed with the thickness of my vein, and decided I should give a double portion of red blood cells. I was perfectly fine with that - only took an extra 20 minutes of my time, and earned me an extra T-shirt. Funny system - you give blood, you get an ugly T-shirt saying "I gave blood", as if it's something to be proud of. Well, one more shirt to wear when I paint walls or go camping.
I'm not going to be graduating this June neutral I'll only graduate at the end of the summer... Not too bad. It means that at the end of May I'm taking a whole week off, and going kayaking in Alaska. I should also start working a little bit less at the end of this month, start concentrating more on important stuff (school?) and less on other things.
I bought my first Wii game ever: world of goo. Awesome game - if you can spare 15$, I highly recommend it. I know one of the guys who wrote the game (went canoeing with his brother a couple of weeks ago). I like the game - I won't try to get his brother's canoe to flip over next time we go...
Another warning! I might have been mistaken at the top of this post. There may be something Gaia related here: Most of my work these days revolves around overhauling the gold granting system. Not the technical stuff; no one would let me touch any of Gaia's code, not with a 10 ft. pole, not even with a lazer pointer. But it's a lot of work coordinating between everyone who's in charge of features that grant gold (and items) around Gaia, so we can make it into a coherent system that no longer punishes you for sticking around (or alternatively, encourages you to create mules). It's taken tremendous amount of time to structure it, and I had to restart more than once in the middle, but it will happen. Some day smile .
