Howl and Growl
“WATCH OUT!” someone shouted as they threw a bunch of small, hard rocks at the little panther demon boy.
“Stop.” Wined the little panther boy as he tried to shield himself form the flying rocks. As the other little kids tormented the 8-year-old demon boy with longish brown hair and soft, fear filled blood red eyes and had black panther tail and ears, a wolf attacked one of them. It snapped and growled at the other kids, as they all got scared. One of the kids started throwing rocks and now other hard objects at the small, lonely wolf pup. The panther boy snapped and yelled “ENOUGH!” and pushed one of the boys. They all got afraid that he might kill them so they all ran off. “You ok?” he asked the wolf pup who was now cowering near a tree. The wolf nodded slowly. “ My names Houkou.” Said the panther demon.
“M-my names Unari.” said the wolf pup shyly. “Do you have any parents?”
“No,” replied Houkou, “I don’t know who they were or why they left.”
“Really? Cool me too.” Unari said wagging her tail “oh yah I forgot.” Unari transformed into a little 8-year-old girl with long black hair and kind gold eyes and black wolf tail and ears.
“I have a small place I stay at near by.” Said Houkou a little shyly, “ Wana stay for a while till you get a place to stay?”
“Thanks Houkou.” Unari replied and bowed a little. Houkou led Unari to a small hut in the middle of the woods and the whole way Unari hide behind Houkou afraid of all the people that were glaring at them. “Cool!” Unari shouted excited. She ran quickly to the door and stopped waiting for Houkou to get there. Houkou laughed a little as he tried to unlock the door.
“Why you so excited?” Houkou asked.
“I never been inside a house for a while.” Unari relied. As soon as Houkou opened the door a weasel jumped up on his shoulder and a cat ran out meowing up at him.
“ Oi Rikka, Mizu, how are you both?” Houkou laughed as Rikka licked his cheek and jumped off his shoulders.
“ GOOD!” Rikka shouted jumping around and running in circles.
Mizu nodded,” I am good as well…. and who may this be?” she asked, pointing with her tail at the new comer.
“This is Unari. She helped me when a bunch of kids were picking on her and I helped her too.” Houkou replied as he walked in and sat down on the couch.
“Nice to meet you both!” Unari said as she bowed a little and walked in and sat next to Houkou. Both animals bowed politely to Unari and Rikka jumped back up on Houkou’s shoulder and fell asleep. Houkou turned on the T.V. as Mizu jumped up on Unari’s lap and curled up falling asleep aswell.
After a while I realized it had gotten late. I looked at Rikka, who was asleep on my shoulder, and at Mizu, who was sleeping on Unari’s lap. I stared back at the T.V. and after a few minutes I felt something else on my shoulder. I turned and saw that Unari had fallen asleep on my shoulder. I could feel my face start to heat up but I just shook my head and took a deep breath. I picked up the remote and turned the bright T.V. off then laid down, setting Unari down next to me and turned around and feel asleep.
“AHHHH!!” I jumped up and almost fell off the couch as I looked around and saw Unari with her eyes widen and her tail puffed out and Rikka and Mizu’s fur raised staring at something outside. I walked over to them confused.
“What’s going on?” I asked as I looked at what they were looking at and my I felt my body stiffen. There before us lied a body of a wolf and its whole stomach was ripped open and its throat was sliced from one end to the other. Its eyes were filled with fear, pain, and anger. As we all stared at the wolf I finally managed to speak up.
“Who did this…” I asked as I looked away. Unari started to whimper and backed up.
“It’s the Hunter…he has come for us…. he kills animals for fun and hates demons the most…” Unari whispered as she started to shake with fear.
“THAT’S JUST WRONG!!” Rikka shouted as he looked past the wolf’s body and glared at the sky, “NO ONE SHOULD DIE LIKE THIS!! DEMONS OR NOT, IT’S NOT RIGHT!!!”
“Rikka’s right.” Mizu agreed looking at me then Unari, then back at me. My tail twitched.
“Then lets move…” I said not moving an inch from were I was now. Everyone agreed and we all started to pack…. well Rikka, Mizu, and I did as Unari waited for us at the door. I hope we don’t run into the Hunter…I don’t want any of my friends hurt… I thought to myself as I finished packing and we all were about to leave.
((just so ya know i chose Howl and Growl as the title because in japanes Unari means growl and Houkou means howl. I was bored one day and I really like the names Unari and Houkou ^^))
