That’s my nickname for my sister. Even though she’s not my real sister I still treat her like one. My parents died after I was born.(Or so I thought.) James and Kathy are my aunt and uncle. But for most of my life I treated them like my mom and dad. My relatives just tell James and Kathy to get rid of me just because I’m a little bit different…uh okay a lot different. I’m like the black sheep of the family.
Oh yeah My name is Caleb Helfang Leobane. People say that’s a warrior’s name. (Turns out to be true). I used to be a normal eighth grader in a small town in New Mexico. I live in the town of Crowville. (Named after all the crows here. Bad omen huh). That’s enough about me let’s go on now. I ran after Ashley and her Friend Nicole. They were down the stairs already when I got there. (Fast little punks). I needed to get down there quickly, then it came to my mind…jump.
Okay lets go back a bit. Yes, I said jump. I know I’m crazy but I had to do it. Also my house is a three-story house. (James and Kathy have great paying jobs.) Those punks are already at the first floor.
So I jump at first I was scared, but then something weird happens. Air forms around my legs and act like parachutes. What the F… heck.
I landed right in front of them. “AAAAhhhhhhh!” they screamed. “SHUT UP!” I shouted. Then I blacked-out. I felt a sharp pain in my neck. By what I figure it was Aj. My older brother (Not by blood.)
I awoke in a daze. I heard whispers, “You shouldn’t had hit him so hard.” Said a familiar voice. “Sorry, He was going to find out.” apologized Aj.
I got up very slowly so not to make to much noise. Conveniently I was in front of the garage door. I opened the door then made a run for it. Because anywhere at anytime there could be one of Ashley’s traps. One time fell down into a hole filled with a four-foot long boa; lucky it was already fed. (How in Drago’s…God’s name did she get It.)? But as always I fell into one of her stupidly obvious traps.
In front of me was a rope tied to each wall of the garage. I tripped over it. The rope was connected to the wall by pulleys, and when the force was gone the pulleys would move back into place. So the trap was when I tripped over than rope the fake hand would move back. When the force was released it would move back into place, then when it moved back it would press a button that would open the garage door. When I tripped over the rope I started rolling. The garage door just started opening when
WHAM!
I hit the door with full force. It felt liked being punched all over the body at the same time.
When the door fully opened I fell to the ground. I started to get up and rub my face (your face would hurt too if you hit a garage door at full speed.). Then I heard something that surprised me. “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” said all my friends and family. “Huh? What? Whoa,” I stammered. “You guys did this for me?”
“Of course lets hurry and do this so you punks can got to school.” Said AJ with a smug look on his face.
“Yeah lets hurry Caleb.”
“James I thought you left for business trip to New York City.”(James is my uncle)
“Do you think I would leave on my son’s birthday.”
When he said that I felt something fall into the pit stomach. James never called me son even before I know that I was not really his son.
“Hey what’s wrong Caleb?” asked Diana
“Nothing, I’m okay.” I lied
“Of course you should be fine it’s your birthday!” shouted Kane
Kane and Diana have been my best friends since for a long time. I met Kane on one of James’ business trips and for Diana, my mom (my real mom) knew her mom for a long time. Her mom offered my relatives to take me in, most of them told James to accept the offer but James told them that my Dad asked him a long time ago to take of me if anything happened to him and my mom. The day I met Kane I learned I was adopted.
