The door was nearing completion. Soon, the door to the darkness would be open-- that fool Maleficent would be engulfed by her own greed for power, and he would have it all to himself. Nobody would expect it. Certainly not that fool Witch, or that..child. The key bearer and his King's minions.
But what of the true key bearer? Riku... He had proven useful before, and strong as well. If he was to succeed, perhaps Riku would play a leading role in making sure it was so. His heart...was strong, but not closed off. That would be useful. Already, this child was withdrawing from the influences of the Witch, as he grew stronger and stronger. He knew the Witch's days were numbered, though he may not have been aware of it.
And the boy knew he was strong.
A ghost of a smirk haunted Ansem's dark face as he stood in front of the door, musing. It would be no challenge to enlist Riku as a sort of apprentice, and with this child's help he would complete the door. Perhaps he would even promise the boy untold power. Or maybe he would even groom his ego, telling him how surely he was meant to be the true keyblade bearer. That it had been a fluke, an error, that Sora had gained it and was doing so far.
Or perhaps he would just say what the boy wanted to hear...Ansem would indeed have fun molding this child into the perfect soldier.

Bladeros paused, his gaze shooting up from the ground as the radio in his ear crackled to life, the tinny voice on the other end alerting him -and, of course, whomever else was on this frequency- that there was yet another round of blackouts, and to keep watch for what could have caused it. Power outages weren't exactly rare in this city, but usually they had a cause- be it the government making an 'example' of another group of so-called rebels, or a fire--anything. The last time this had happened---
He took off at a dead run, weaving his way through the narrow pathways. Was Angel here? His mind and heart raced as he sprinted, not noticing that the pathways were becoming wider, turning into proper alleyways, before he slid to a stop in a mostly-deserted side street --a maintenance path, really-- that was strewn with a few bodies. But that wasn't what he was focused on.
Breathing heavily, he stared, wide-eyed, at the form not 50 feet from him. He tried to speak, tried to call out the other man's name-- but his voice just wouldn't come.

For some reason, cigarettes never did satisfy quite so much if they weren't lit. Maybe that was why the chewed up roll of tobacco product that balanced precariously between painstakingly painted lips was...well, chewed up.
Belle Ballard's face hovered mere centimeters from the foggy, scratched scope of her rifle, swinging her sights from the female splicer below to the movement in what had once been a pool. This was more action than she'd seen in an entire day of sitting on the small, dusty platform high above, right where a now-fallen light or something of the sort had once been affixed.
Slowly, she swung the rifle to point back at the pool, not sure if she should be grateful for the Camouflage plasmid that was so heavily relied on by people in her line of work. Usually, she would sit here, using the Splicers that were too far gone to save as moving targets for her ever-continuing games of target practice, picking them off one by one...But as Rapture continued to be rebuilt, to be brought back to life, those opportunities were becoming few and far between. No more were there mobs of the addicts, vying to destroy every living creature so as to get the smallest amount of ADAM possible.
This was far more interesting, however-- Lurking far above, watching, unseen and unnoticed, gave her an odd sense of...invincibility.
That did not mean, however, that she was impervious to the pungent smell of ADAM suddenly bursting from the corpse, shocking her senses. True, Belle had enjoyed her share of the substance-- who in Rapture hadn't? And when given the opportunity, she would enjoy more of it. But that did not make her any less suspicious of what was releasing the ADAM from the floating corpse.
Biting down on the soggy tip of her cigarette, she aimed at the corpse, flicking the safety off. Carefully, she took aim, but at the last moment, a form...a...something...burst out of the water, and as she pulled the trigger, her aim was pulled off, the bullet exploding from her rifle, and within seconds it had harmlessly splashed into the water a good foot from the creature-- and the corpse-- the sound of the bullet hitting concrete muffled by what had once been water.
Belle Ballard never missed.
"Goddamnit," She hissed, spitting out the useless smoke as she stood, hoisting her gun onto her back as she went to fiddle with the jimmy rigged ropes and chains that she'd used to climb up in the first place, prepared to go down and do some investigating.
