So I had a creepy dream and decided to turn it into an *SCP article.


SCP-1262

Special Containment Procedures: SCP-1262 is to be stored in a soundproof security box at least fifteen (15) meters from any crystal in all directions. All research pertaining to SCP-1262 must be carried out by D-class personnel overseen by staff with Level 2 clearance. All personnel must undergo a mental health examination on a bi-monthly basis; those found to be suffering from depression must be immediately given a Class B amnesiac and transferred to another project.

Description: SCP-1262 is a battered, yellowed paperback book titled “A Study of the Effects of the Crystal Singing Bowl on the Human Psyche” by ---- --------, copyrighted 17--. It was recovered from the home of Mrs. ------- ------, an elderly deaf collector of crystal artifacts.

A minimum of twenty (20) pages of SCP-1262 must be read every four (4) days, or SCP-1262 will emit a sound described by personnel as “ringing crystal”, repeated at four-second intervals. This sound causes moderate agitation and an intense desire to read SCP-1262, both which worsen with prolonged exposure. If subject is denied access to SCP-1262, bouts of manic depression begin after two (2) hours of exposure to the sound.

Any crystal within fifteen (15) meters of SCP-1262 will resonate with SCP-1262, regardless of barriers between them and it, causing the same effects as SCP-1262.

Subjects who read SCP-1262 become extremely calm, professing that they are “at peace” with the world, and that “harmony between all” is their desire. To this end, they will attempt to procure any crystalline object with a sharp point and commit suicide. This desire wears off within twenty-four (24) hours of reading SCP-1262.
