Knee Injury of a Life Time: Part III
Here's Part III of my story. Although I didn't have much information myself, the doctors would soon tell me.

Wednesday, June 10, 2009:

Today was the day I had to visit the orthopedic surgeon. The name was frightening, but I figured we can't do surgery without even knowing what's wrong. Unfortunately, there was still a lot of pain on this day.

One of the orthopedic surgeons was a big, strong, Russian/German guy. I could tell by his amazingly deep voice and his facial tones. That was scary, to say the least. He was actually a pretty nice guy, until he did "the test".

The orthopedic surgeons were in charge of finding out exactly where the pain was in my knee and how painful and stiff it was. The Russian/German guy started bending my knee in all sorts of different positions. I thought I was going to scream. I hadn't been able to straighten or bend my leg since I got my injury.

After a long process of bending my knee and making me feel horrible, they concluded that I couldn't do "the test" because my knee was too swollen and stiff. They decided to drain some of the swelling. At first it felt kind of good. A different orthopedic surgeon, a stubby Japanese doctor, was the one that would drain my knee. It was a lot more comforting than having that big guy do it.

First, the doctor put this really comfortable, really cold liquid all over my knee. It was so calming... I miss it to this day. Anyway, he followed by sticking a huge needle in my knee to numb it. I swear, all I was thinking was that he was going to hit a bone. My heart was pumping rapidly. The numbing process was pretty fast and I couldn't feel anything afterwords, so I guess he did his job.

Next, was the draining. When he put the needle in, I just felt a small push on my knee, until he drained it. It was pretty scary. I felt a whole bubble come out of my knee and so much pressure was gone. I wasn't watching him put in the needle of course, but I saw what had come out. That was the scariest part of all.

What should have came out was puss. What actually came out was blood. I saw that there was blood filled to the top of the needle. This gave the doctors an idea of what may have happened. This was when I found out that it wasn't just a fracture.

The orthopedic surgeons said this probably meant that there was a torn ligament. Worst case scenario, I might need surgery.

They had me schedule an appointment to get an MRI.

This concludes Part III! I want to take some time to thank my readers and all of the people that are rooting for me every step of the way! Thanks to all! mrgreen
