Evolution: Hot topic, right?
It seems like I've learned about this since I can first remember taking a science class. All right, so the first thing I remember about science is photosynthesis and collecting dead leaves...but evolution came soon after. It seems like it should be true...it seems legit. After all, they're teaching it to us in school, right? And everything they teach us in school is true.
Okay, so no one believes that everything they learn in school is absolutely true. We question it, and with good cause. Once I had an English teacher who told me that it was improper English to begin a sentence with: (And here came the list of 40 words) once, during, throughout, after, etc. So "After I went to the store, I ate a sandwich" became grammatically incorrect, as did all the sentences in my government-issued history book that stated "During the 1900s...", "Before World War I...." and so on. I thought that was ridiculous. I asked other English teachers, and while I learned that in some cases he was right, most of the time it is perfectly acceptable to begin a sentence with the words "after", "during", and "throughout". Oh my word, my high school teacher was wrong!
Now, I realize it is more difficult to question something that many teachers, professors, and science-type persons profess as truth, such as evolution. I questioned it, though, and the answers I got satisfactorily debunked the theory of evolution for me. That's not to say I have all the answers; far from it, I think I don't have nearly enough.
Why am I writing about this? To let you all know that I'm a nutcase who doesn't believe "scientific fact"? To make you feel bad? No and no! No no no no no! I just want you - PLEASE, I am begging you - to question this theory we have all been taught all our lives (in the U.S., at least). I get this uneasy feeling that we've all been brainwashed, much like most of Europe was brainwashed into believing that the world was flat.
Basically, I can not sum up everything I have learned to my satisfaction, so I'm leaving you with some resources. Please, check them out!

If you want to discuss evolution with me, just PM me. I love discussions! Actually, sometimes I hate them, but I'm always willing to discuss evolution with you.
