Been playing quite a bit of Runes of Magic for the past few weeks. . . . which is part of the reason why I really haven't been on Gaia (the other reason is because I just wanted a break from here).
It's a pretty fun game if you like playing online games and a water down version of WoW. Runes of Magic is like WoW except there is no Alliance or Horde, I don't think the world is quite as big, and there's not as many races to play as (only 2 in RoM - Elves and Humans). Though Runes of Magic IS free to play. Don't have to buy the game, don't have to pay a monthly fee ^_^
I'm not sure if it's possible to do this in WoW (as I only played on a trail account), but in RoM, you can develop different types of friendship with other players: Family, Teacher/Student, Friends, Couples - this one could lead you to marriage in the game. The benefit of having one of these is that you earn a bit more Exp., TP bonus, or a higher chance of getting items from enemies. I'm not sure what the bonus is for two characters getting married though :/ But I think I remember reading that if the couple is in a group with other people, the affects spread to the rest of the group, but I'm not really sure.
